Has this actually worked for anyone?

Nope!!

Boymummy3 · 05/12/2019 10:04

I've never tried it's too uncomfortable towards the end but no reason not to give it a go if you want too. It may work for you it may not do x

Lulufluff · 05/12/2019 10:13

@boymummy3 that’s what I mean I am quite uncomfortable and I am at the end.. wondering if there’s enough success stories to give it a go Grin

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 05/12/2019 10:31

My friend had a success story! She went into labour later that day, but was overdue...

babynunber3 · 05/12/2019 10:32

We've had sex all way along currently 38 weeks nothing yet!

Lulufluff · 05/12/2019 10:49

Hmm.. I guess it can’t hurt to give it a go!

If you were to be induced you would be given an artificial prostaglandin pessary to help the cervix ripen. Semen contains naturally high concentration of prostaglandin which is why the recommendation is made - of course not all semen is created equal but worth a try as its more fun than the alternative!

MissPepper8 · 05/12/2019 13:29

I tried I think at 37/8 weeks, my hind waters went shortly afterwards but alas as they were hind no contractions and I had to be induced 2 weeks later.

I can't remember if we tried after that incident, I think DH was too afraid (we were told I peed myself before I found out the two weeks later it was indeed my waters).

SprinkleOfInsanity · 05/12/2019 13:37

Yes. Had sleep earlier in the day, then was so fed up and pounded on DH. Waters broke all over him, contractions started almost immediately and baby was born a few hours later 😁

SprinkleOfInsanity · 05/12/2019 13:38

Not sleep, a sweep. Although I probably did have a little sleep during the day too.

SprinkleOfInsanity · 05/12/2019 13:39

Also, didn't pound DH, pounced. Today is not going well Confused

NameChange30 · 05/12/2019 13:39

Yes. Worked for me. There is science behind it. Works best if you orgasm (oxytocin) Wink

Lulufluff · 05/12/2019 13:44

Hahaha thanks ladies! I love these responses.

@sprinkle when I read you pounded your husband it made me laugh out loud! :D

Following! I'm currently on ball at 40+3 after having contractions since my sweep on Tuesday. Everything seems to of died down and i'm getting desperate

Lulufluff · 05/12/2019 14:47

@WhenTwoBecomeThree Noo!! Please keep me updated with your progress.
I’m only 39+2 but my sweep isn’t until the 16th ‘if I don’t go by myself’

Merename · 05/12/2019 14:50

I think, like a sweep, it will work if you were about ready to go and won’t if you’re not. I had sex a few times in the 13 days DD 2 was late, including the last day and was in slow early labour for about a week. Things were starting to move a little when a midwife examined me at home and the poking about seemed to make everything go and she was born 2hrs later.

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 05/12/2019 14:59

@lulufluff i will do! I was already 2cm when the midwife did the sweep on Tues so hopefully not too long but the wait is killing me. I'm filling myself up on pineapple and told DP to prepare because sex is coming after this

Ilovethekitties · 05/12/2019 15:07

We are at it twice a day at 39 weeks and it's done nothing yet apart from make my partner happy!

nataliemum25 · 05/12/2019 15:07

I don't think anything will start labour unless medical intervention, baby will come when they are ready, I'm in the same situation and trying anything to get her out, I'm so irritable and moody I just want her out x

ballsdeep · 05/12/2019 15:13

@sprinkleofinsanity

Pounded 😂😂😱😱😱 I was going to say, very energetic for full term 😂😂

WhatHaveIFound · 05/12/2019 15:13

With DC1 contractions started just after DH and I finished having sex BUT i had eaten chicken curry for dinner and i was 5 days overdue.

Didn't risk it second time around but did go into labour (at 39wks) after another chicken curry dinner!

mumao · 05/12/2019 15:35

I think it did for me!

Lulufluff · 05/12/2019 15:37

@Ilovethekitties hahaha my DP is quite happy to keep away so it would be quite the opposite if we DTD!

@WhenTwoBecomeThree how do you feel? Have you just been on the medicine ball since? I love pineapple so may go the supermarket especially to buy some!

@nataliemum25 feeling the same way hun.. totally irritated hope she comes soon for you!

@WhatHaveIFound sounds like curry worked for you then!
Midwife told me it ‘irritates your bowel’ which kicks things off I don’t know if I like the thought of that - though I do love curry!!

Perch · 05/12/2019 15:38

None of so-called labour starters worked for me. They come when they come, two weeks overdue with both. Save yourself the worry and catch up on sleep, you’ll need it!!

bobble53 · 05/12/2019 15:56

I’ve tried everything - sex, pineapple, curry, long walks. I’m 40+1 and lost my plug nearly two weeks ago. Absolutely no sign of baby coming today and I’m getting fed up!
