Safe to lose weight during pregnancy?

I'm 7 weeks today. Prior to becoming pregnant I was dieting and doing cardio and lost 12lbs. Is it safe to keep on going or should I just forget about dieting until baby is here?

It’s not recommended to actively lose weight during pregnancy. However, depending on your starting weight/BMI maintaining your weight may be the way to go.
Continuing the exercise is absolutely fine, and you will continue to see the health benefits from it, but you need to be careful not to restrict your diet too much.

What diet were you following?

I was calorie counting and doing 40 mins of cardio a day. I'm a bit overweight already, BMI of 34.

I did slimming world in pregnancy and I’d recommend that to anyone tbh. I started at about 10 weeks with a bmi Of about 28-29 and only put on 15 lbs, compared to my other pregnancies where I seriously ballooned by about 4 stone each time. Lost all the weight within two weeks of the birth. I’ve found it much harder after having dd though, breastfeeding has never helped me lose weight and I just can’t seem to lose any atm so I’ve stopped going. She’s also been an incredibly difficult baby so I’ve not had much time for myself, most days I still don’t eat a decent meal til dh gets home as I can’t put her down. Not sure if I’d calorie count in pregnancy but it’s worth a chat to your midwife if you’re unsure.

How many calories is your deficit? What is your recommended calorie intake for your height/weight?
How good are you at getting a correct balance of fibre, protein and calcium?

I think just eating clean overall and keeping up casual exercise is the way forward when pregnant. I personally wouldn't run. I think its best to hit all the food groups and make sure not to miss out on calcium. Good luck

Yes if you are overweight.
