SMP QUERY

Hi

If anyone could just confirm my query below regarding SMP I'd really appreciate it as I'm a little confused...

SMP you are entitled to 90% of your weekly earnings for the first 6 weeks.

Just say for example 90% of my weekly earnings is £300, does this mean I get £300 for the whole 6 weeks or do I get £300 PER WEEK for 6 weeks totalling to £1800 for 6 weeks.

Sorry I'm really confused trying to figure out if I have £300 to last 6 weeks or if the £300 is per week for 6 weeks

Sorry if I sound stupid the website ain't very clear !!

Thanks

It's per week.

Yes you would get £1800 covering the first 6 weeks at £300 per week, then SMP rate of £145.18 after that.

It would be sensible to plan how many weeks you are going to take, and spread those riches in the first 6 weeks out over the whole time rather than having 6 weeks comfortable and then the rest with not much to spend. E.G. if taking 20 weeks off, then [ £1800 + (14 x £145.18) ] / 20 = £191.63 per week

SMP has gone up to the princely sum of £148.68. Don't spend the extra all at once Grin
