Appointments confusion

Hi, I may come across as being slightly dumb but what is an obstetrics antenatal appointment in normal human terms? I am 7 weeks on Thursday and have already seen a midwife once but never had bloods or urine samples taken? This is not my first baby and this time round seems so different to the last 2, I feel like I've just been abandoned if I'm honest. Any help would be appreciated...

It doesn't sound like you've been abandoned - a lot of people haven't even seen a midwife by seven weeks.l

Perfect thank you for your advice makes me feel a bit more normal. Just what I needed. X

No midwife appointments at all until 12 weeks in NI.

You only have bloods done at a booking app which is around 9 weeks so I would persume that's what the appointment is for. Is it at your local hospital? X

Obstetrics antenatal appointment is basically just an appointment. Without knowing more, no-one can advise what that appointment is. Chances are it’ll be your booking in appointment/bloods etc. If you’re not sure just phone the number on the letter.

It can sometimes feel like you’ve been abandoned as you’re mostly just left to get on with it yourself at the start. But call them if you’re not sure x

Depends on the area you live. In my area bloods etc are done at the same time as 12 week scan and then they give you a sample pot to take home so you can bring a urine sample with you to every appointment after that .
At the booking in appointment it's just paperwork.
