36 weeks pregnant – lost 7 lbs since last week!

So I posted last week freaking out because my baby was given an estimated weight of 8 lb 8 oz at 35+4 weeks (meaning she could be on track to be as big as 11 lb full term). I really didn't understand it because I'm only the tall end of normal, my DH isn't very big, I don't have GD and I had gained 30 lbs in my pregnancy and been very active and healthy.

Anyway, I weighed myself today and suddenly I was down 7 lbs! Now I weighed myself at a different time of day (morning) as opposed to last time (evening), but it seems like a lot. My total weight gain is now around 23 lbs, and the baby is 8 lbs 8 oz, so I think if you take out the weight of the placenta, amniotic fluid, uterus, breast tissue and additional blood flow I might have even lost weight in this pregnancy ... definitely don't think I've put much on.

I'm now extra freaked out because it seems like a fairly drastic drop in weight in a week. Is this normal? I've been struggling to eat because I've been very stressed about the baby being so big (and keep asking myself what I've done wrong), but at the same time I've been forcing myself to because I know I need to.

Scan measurements can't be a few lbs wrong so she may not be as big as they have estimated. I don't think it's accurate to try and weigh yourself in the am vs pm. You would always measure at the same time to compare. After I've eaten breakfast and had a glass of water I am 3/4lbs heavier than first thing in the morning, so it's not that far fetched that a difference of 8lbs between am and pm without actually loosing any weight. Just eat normally, you are growing a person!

I’m no medical professional, so I would always say to put your mind at rest speak to either GP or midwife.
But one thing I will say is that if I weigh myself in the morning, I find when I weigh myself again before I go to bed I have “gained” about an extra 4/5 pounds 😚 xx

Why have you done anything wrong? When if they are 11lb, it’s big but not abnormally so.

I lost weight during pregnancy (ended up the same weight at full term as I was the day I conceived), had no gestational diabetes and my DD was 10lb 13oz. Perfectly healthy pregnancy. Sometimes it just happens that way! You need to eat though - you not eating isn't going to change the size of your baby, it's just going to make you ill!

Firstly you don't actually know what your baby weighs until they are out and on a scale. "Weights" from growth scans are estimates. They have a margin of error at best and are known to be spectacularly inaccurate from time to time at worst.

Secondly, if you are feeling well in yourself and eating I don't think you have anything to worry about in your own weight. Weighing at a different time of day can make a pretty significant difference. If the baby is big she is big and it's probably nothing to do with what you've done assuming you don't have gestational diabetes. Try to chill out and just eat normally. Call your midwife if you can't calm yourself down

I think its stress that will have causef the weight loss,

I've been struggling to eat because I've been very stressed about the baby being so big (and keep asking myself what I've done wrong

Youve not done anything wrong, dont think like that. My DP's cousin had an 10lb 2oz baby and she is not a tall or broad girl and neither is her partner, some people have big babies, some people have small

Dont stress yourself, babies only take what they need from their mums, they dont get overfed in the womb!

My DD was 7lb 1oz which i think is a good weight,

My DS2 was 4lb 14oz born at 37 weeks, i was really stressed throughout the pregnancy and gained 3lb in total. I believe stress plays a massive part,

Please try not to stress youve not done anything wrong x
