I've been feeling baby kicking every evening between 8-10pm ish for the last two weeks, but today I can't remember feeling any kicks all day.

I've had a sugary drink and lay down on my left side, but still nothing.

Is it too soon to be monitoring movements?

Hey, this happened to me. It’s my third baby and I felt movement from about 14 weeks. I rang up PAU and they told me to come in. They did all the checks and he was fine. So I would say no it’s not too early. If your worried ring up and see what they say. Hope it goes okay x

CFlemingSmith · 01/12/2019 22:25

They will say it's too soon to be monitoring movements, however I would (and did myself) still go and get checked for your own sanity x

I remember at that stage it being quite inconsistent and it sent me into a huge panic. I did get checked though and the midwives were very good about it.

Thank you, I have phoned up and the midwife suggested taking a bath and laying down in bed, and if I still can't feel anything and feel worries then to go in, or alternatively see if I feel him tomorrow and then go in.

She said he's too small to do monitoring, so would be the heart beat thing, and it is upto me.

That's rubbish. They can and should do monitoring from 22 weeks onward. You should go in and ask to be checked over.

@Ramdogs Read the above, monitoring is from 28 weeks.

Ramdogs · 01/12/2019 23:13

It can be done very easily from 22 weeks, from personal experience of a high risk pregnancy. If this ladies baby has an established routine which has broken today I would be getting check if I was her.

You are very unusual.

Most places won't even monitor that early because its so unreliable on the trace. I went in at 27 weeks and it was a bit of total faff to try and get successful 20 minute monitoring, baby was too wriggly and small.

Teachermaths · 01/12/2019 23:19

OP if you are concerned, go in and they'll doppler you and check the heartbeat. It's very unlikely they will monitor you though.

littlemissalwaystired · 01/12/2019 23:24

Definitely no monitoring at 22 weeks, it'll be a handheld Doppler instead. 28 weeks onwards for CTG. If it would reassure you to get checked OP then I would.

After I'd called the midwives I got into bed and baby started to kick!
Thanks for the replies, though :)
