Anyone else in the same boat? I'm 33+4 and they must be atleast a third fatter than pre pregnancy. I've had to stop wearing leggings because they are stretched so much and show every single lump and bump. Especially my thighs. They're like barrels. Sad I darent weigh myself

Could it just be swelling or have you been having a lot of cravings etc? You're only supposed to eat 200 calories more than you did each day before pregnancy

Lotus90 · 01/12/2019 19:03

Are you overeating? You shouldn't have put on a large amount of weight if you've been eating your recommended calorie intake

brightbird · 01/12/2019 20:00

Are you actually much bigger? I have definitely noticed what feels like a lot more fat on my bum and thighs, but other people haven't. So it's partly perception. Also apparently the thigh and bum fat is apparently easier to lose after, especially if you are going to be breastfeeding.

Have you contacted your midwife? While some odema is pretty normal in the 3rd trimester - excessive swelling actually turned out to be my first (rather vague) sign of pre-eclampsia. I gained 15kg of fluid in 5 weeks (and then lost it again in the 72 hours post delivery)

Aneley · 02/12/2019 09:07

I second @Lunde - same here. Was gaining normally, then from 32w balooned - especially my legs. At 34w blood pressure rose and I was diagnosed with preeclampsia. At the moment managed by meds and 37+3 but my legs look literally like trees, i can't even distinguish my knees from the rest from all the swelling.

TreesSandSea · 02/12/2019 09:10

And me! My legs swelling up was a sign of pre eclampsia at 35 weeks

babynunber3 · 02/12/2019 09:20

Disagree with a few here! Yes if they are huge could be pre e if there swollen full of fluid you can tell difference! However I am 37 weeks preg and have only put on 16lb however my thighs have got (what I'd call) huge!! They touch at the top Nd I feel uncomfortable with them! But my bump is pretty small and has stretched slightly but isn't big at all! So it's not necessarily that you have ate more than you should!

I haven't weighed myself....might be stupid but it's never crossed my mind as it won't be good during pregnancy will it 😂 I will do it later. Although I don't feel I've overeaten too much. I've had more treats but not gorged. I'm seeing Midwife tomorrow

Honestly I joke that I'm carrying baby's in my thighs!!! Haha can't wait to have her

agree about speaking to midwife, however in my first pregnancy I had horrendous swelling in my legs in the third trimester that lasted until about 7-10 days post partum, at which point they just deflated one night.
