Low HCG levels

Hi all! So I'm due my period tomorrow, found out I'm pregnant yesterday via blood test as I've had cramping and spotting. Blood results showed positive pregnancy but HCG was just under 200.

Anyone else have quite low HCG just before due period and everything be ok? I'm going back tomorrow for more bloods to make sure HCG goes up and it is not ectopic.

Thanks everyone.

200 before pregnancy is due is not low, who told you that??

Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly · 01/12/2019 12:13

*period sorry

Mk9yy · 01/12/2019 12:15

@Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly the consultant I saw yesterday at the hospital. He seems to want to rule out ectopic pregnancy too and said it should be higher than 200!

I'm worrying myself sick that I'm miscarrying because of him saying it's so low

Not at all. My hcg with my son (my only successful pregnancy) was 250 the day my period was due, and 700 48hrs later. Try not to stress. They are not particularly high, but definitely not low.

I'm confused why your consultant has said this when you havnt even missed a period yet that's very strange... There is guidlines on hcg levels although remember every women's body produces hcg at different rates...
4 weeks 5–426 mIU/ml so to me 200 is within normal range. For him to Mention eptopic that may be because you have some Cramping which can be totally normal early pregnancy but of course they will want to rule it out. Try not worry yourself and fingers crossed for your next set of bloods x

@Boymummy3 It's such a pickle, just constantly worrying now! X

@Mk9yy try not to worry yourself easier said than done I know.

I was told that anything above 5 is a pregnancy. It doesn't matter what the number is, just that it's going up by 66% or more every 48 hours

Anything over 100 at 14 days post ovulating is considered a good sign

Laurapb88 · 01/12/2019 14:17

My blood test was the day my period was due and my hcg was 78, repeated 2 days later and they had tripled I'm now 19 weeks I dont think 200 is low at all x

Mk9yy · 01/12/2019 15:26

The consultant has scared the crap out of me saying it's a possible ectopic! I haven't had many symptoms either so I'm even doubting myself having a viable pregnancy at this point :-(

I had and extract from a scientific journal which gave % chance of viable pregnancy based on hcg levels drawn 14 days after ovulation - over 100 it was pretty much 99% a healthy pregnancy - less than 60 a chemical less than 100 ectopic or non viable

I've had 2 ruptured ectopics and 5 mc and all of them had lower than your level of hcg the day before period technically due

Mk9yy · 01/12/2019 19:10

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted aw I'm so sorry to hear about your losses :-(! Hopefully all is ok with this one and it's just because I'm quite early x
