Talk to me about your transverse baby

Second pregnancy and baby has gone from being breech to transverse in the last few weeks!

I'm nearly 36weeks. I know there is still a chance of baby turning but it's getting less and less likely.

I'm slowly trying to get my head around the prospect of a c-section and possible long hospital stay beforehand. Breaking my heart with a very clingy, co-sleeping 2 year old. Can anyone who has gone through a transverse pregnancy/ birth talk me through what happened to you?

Hi,

My son went from breech to transverse around about the 6 month mark. He did right himself by the time I went into labour - on his due date.

Hope it works out for you x

My baby went from breech to transverse around 34 weeks and then a week later it was head down.
I had a look at the website 'Spinning Babies'. They have some exercises/techniques you can use to try and help spin your baby. Whether it was coincidence or not it's worth a try.
Failing that, Do you know if they do EVC's in your area?

Thank you @cantmovewont that's really reassuring that they went head down on your due date. Were you admitted beforehand?

@snowflakeeel Yes I've been following a lot of spinning babies advice. Spending evenings upside down on an ironing board! I've been told with the position baby is in they won't attempt an ECV as there is too higher risk of cord prolapse.

@putputput, I was actually about to start a transverse thread!! My little man (1st baby) has been sideways since our 20 week scan, I'm now almost 35 weeks!! All is healthy, there's no reason he hasn't gotten in position apparently, he's just awkward!

I have a scan at 36 and 4 on 16th Dec ... I think if he's still transverse I'll be admitted. If he moves, I guess they send me home and I wait for labour. If not, I'm in until they decide it's late enough to do a c section.

With each scan / passing week I've come more to terms with probably having a section. I know there is every probability he will get in position, but it's been soooo long I just can't imagine it now if that makes sense? Have tried positions etc, he isn't budging! I actually think if he moves at the last min and I need to get into the 'labour' frame of mind, I'll probably freak out a little, but that's probably me being silly!

Hmmm... I wonder if they admit me mid Dec until new year I'll get day release for my mums Christmas Dinner?!
