Heartburn

I know heartburn is part and parcel of pregnancy but I'm really struggling with it to the point it's putting me off eating. I had heartburn before I was pregnant as I have a hiatus hernia but it was pretty well controlled by ranitidine on prescription.

Ranitidine has now been withdrawn (I've been told to use the remainder of prescription which is only a few days now) before moving to cimetidine (but I've been told that's nowhere as effective as ranitidine) - it's bad enough at the moment so I'm dreading not having the ranitidine to at least try and control it. I've been taking gaviscon advanced tablets along with ranitidine (I can't take ppi's such as omeprazole and the gaviscon liquid literally makes me sick 🤢)

Really long shot but does anyone know of anything else that would help at all? I've still got 11 weeks to go ☹️

Thanks!

Could you not use the over the counter ranitidine that hasnt been discontinued? You would just need to take more of them to get the correct dose

There's none to be had anywhere unfortunately ☹️ from what I've been told everywhere has been told to remove it from sale

Really? I bought some the other day from home bargains. It wasnt one of the brands that had been recalled

I have been investigating and the one I bought is now on a recall list. More and more seems to be added and I hadnt realised that 75mg tablets were now on the list as beforehand it was just prescription only ones.

www.gov.uk/drug-device-alerts?keywords=Ranitidine mine was only recalled on 21st November

Yeah they were gradually disappearing. When my GP called he basically said that they were all stopping being manufactured ☹️
