Growth scan, ctg and consultant appointment

Hey, first time poster here !
I'm 36+2 weeks pregnant. At my last appointment the midwife measured my bump and said it was measuring 3 weeks behind. She scheduled a growth scan which I had yesterday and they said that my little guy has only grown a centimetre in 4 weeks. I was sent round to a day care unit and put on a monitor for his heart heart and movements which came back fine but have been asked to go back next Friday for another scan, ctg and then speak to a consultant. I'm really worried as I've not spoke to the consultant before and I've no idea what to expect. Has anyone gone through this or something similar ?

Not for growth but I was in and out for monitoring for reduced movements from 35 weeks. At my first consultants appointment I was 36+4 and he just booked me in for induction at 38 weeks. I ended up induced at 37+5 because the reduced movements didn't improve.

I would prepare yourself that they might recommended induction. Obviously you don't have to agree to it, but it's likely it will be discussed.

I had my first consultant app on Thursday its nothing to worry about but I'm the opposite baby is big and I'm measuring big but pretty much same concept. She listened to babies heartbeat and booked me in for another scan in 3 weeks. I'm behind you at 32 weeks. They will probally go through the scan results with you so if baby hasn't grown much again they may offer induction and go through options with you on what they think would be best to do.. X

My dd was measuring 5 weeks behind at 37weeks. Growth scan went fine. All vitals were fine. She was born 4lb 14oz. One day before due date. Was middle of summer but because she was small she was wrapped up like a winter baby constantly. We were in for at least 24 hours after birth to make sure her body temp was fine, check for breathing issues and feeding issues. But she was perfect and got home the next day. The clothes I had drowned her. Even the tiny baby stuff my mum managed to grab didn't fit. Didn't bother to get any premmie things though for all she was going to be in them.
Small doesn't necessarily equal to health issues
Sometimes there is no reason. I spent 3 weeks wondering if she was going to be okay and if it was something I had done but cold hard fact is all babies are different and they will be whatever weight/height/size they will be. She's now 6 and is average height maybe a bit under average weight but not unhealthy

I am in the same position as you at the moment except I abit behind- 30 weeks. Went in with reduced movements last week, had a growth scan which showed he is measuring small for his weight and stomach. Had day care for CTG and all was well and got to repeat next week aswell as having a scan. Been told if he doesnt grow much then could have to deliver at 34 weeks. Its scary, but at same time so grateful they are monitoring us so closely,
I hope everything turns out ok for you and little one

@Sparkle0109 @Sparkle0109 that's not too bad that they told you what was happening the midwives haven't really been giving me much information. Before leaving she kept expressing how I need to contact them as soon as possible if I feel reduced movements so I was really worried that there was just something they were telling me. Hopefully I'll find out more on Friday.

They said the same to me bout movements which I ended up crying about the other days as I cant felt him a great deal at times due to position if placenta. Next time you go in push for answers and tell them you want to know what the plan is.

Good luck for friday

Going through this as well. My first was small for gestational age, I had 2 growth scans with her and although small she was growing well. Now, for baby no. 2 I've had growth scans every 4 weeks, now every 2 weeks. Basically my consultant doesn't know if this baby is small due to genetics (that I just naturally make small babies) or whether there is a problem with the placenta not providing everything the baby needs. My consultant has said I could be induced from 37 weeks onwards but has not been specific about how low the growth would have to be to trigger an induction. Baby is currently following 7th percentile for weight. I thought under 10 percentile would mean I would need an induction but blood flow etc from placenta on my scans look fine so I don't know. I hope everything goes well for you.

Lack of movement can indicate baby is in distress/ placenta not working, I've been told the same thing.
