Am I the only person in the world to have a long latent labour with baby 2

See title really. Every single thing I have read and everyone I have spoken to has assured me that a second labour would be quick. Or at least quicker. However I have been having painful cramps/contractions on and off for two days now. I keep thinking it's kicking off and then nothing happens. Same thing happened with first labour and that didn't end well. So obviously now I am assuming the worst for this one. Is it just me??!

No just you - I was almost 2 weeks (sorry!) with DC2 and a long labour (21h but DC1 was 47h and forceps so actually a considerable improvement). For me I think baby just wasn’t in a good position. After 18h of Labour a new midwife got me on my hands and knees over the ball, baby turned and was here very quickly after that

I had a long latent phase with number 2 as well but then I got to 4cm and she came within 10 minutes 😂 so there is hope! First baby came very quickly so I really wasn't expecting the second to drag out so long (two weeks late as well). Good luck!

Oh dear, sorry you had to suffer too 😩 I'm already overdue, I can't bear the thought of another two weeks of this! Why I am so unlucky?!

Is it worth asking for a sweep - will that speed things along?

I did too. With DC1 my first contraction was when I went into labour & he arrived 21 hours later. With DC2 I thought I was going into labour for about three days before I actually did. It was so frustrating. When it finally got going it was about 12 hours. Not short, but I was just so glad it was finally happening.

It happened to me too. My second Labour just kept stopping and starting. It was exhausting. I think it took about 30 hours. Everyone else I know had a very quick second Labour and barely made it to hospital in time.

I feel your pain!!! I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and I've been having the cramping, tightenings, back pain, period pain, pelvic area you name it since 37.5 weeks and I'm slowly giving up the world to live!!! Im fragmin aswell so when I experience half of these going on I'm like right let's not inject incase and then it stops a few hours later and I'm left sitting why is it doing this to me!

Does possibly bigger babies cause issues like this maybe as she is rumoured to be a big baby due to growth scans but personally I hate growth scans! My son was 8lb born but super tiny to look at just long I remember him being in newborn for at least 6 weeks long, she so happens to have the little linger legs and massive belly, but the head is perfectly measured! So I'm quite anxious about what could possibly happen during labour from previous to what they say could happen now, but then aren't we all!!!!

I had this with dc2. Active labour was only 90 minutes though.
