Hi all!

I got my BFP positive yesterday, I'm trying to relax about it all but so worried about miss carrying.

Im tempted to book myself in for an early scan at 7 to 8 weeks. Has anyone done this before and did it help to ease your mind or is it just a waste of money?

I hate feeling so anxious.

Any advice will be appreciated thank you

I'm the same. I have one booked in for 6 1/2 weeks. I'm really anxious that something is wrong. I've been under alot of work stress and have been getting sharp pains since yesterday 😢 x

@Mothertoone2 I had a scan at 8 weeks and although not much to see you can hear the heartbeat! It definitely put my mind to rest and i would recommend x

I had a scan at 8 weeks when I knew we'd see his wee heartbeat, really put my mind at ease.

I did this and had early scan all was fab saw heartbeat, then started to spot the next day! All the reassurance i had got from the scan evaporated! However all was fine I am now 21 weeks and continued to spot from 7 weeks to 13 weeks! Found out at 20 weeks I have low lying placenta which is probably why.

Had one at 6 weeks and 8 weeks. It really eased my mind and made me less anxious. Totally worth it IMO. congratulations

I booked an early scan with my first pregnancy due to anxiety (I was just in disbelief as I didn't think it was possible). Definitely put my mind at rest, made it more real, and seeing the crazy fast heartbeat was incredible.

I suffered with the same anxiety.

I was due to travel abroad around 10 weeks so ended up booking the early scan - the last thing I wanted was for there to be a problem whilst I was in a different country.

HOWEVER, the anxiety never really goes (sorry to say!) and I would consider whether having an early scan will help longer term. I found that two weeks after the scan I was worried again and you can't really justify a private scan every week to keep your mind at ease.

Unfortunately worrying is a part of pregnancy and parenting so I'd also find other ways to cope and stay chilled.

Good luck with it all!

Thanks all.

I've gone ahead and booked a scan for 29th December anyway and I'll be 8 weeks. If that's all well and good I think I'll be able to relax more.

Thanks for your advice xx

I had one at 7 and a half weeks and eased my mind because seen heartbeat , I'm now 10 weeks and panicking again xx

I had one at 9 weeks in my first pregnancy. I was incredibly nervous, as my only other experience of pregnancy had ended in a miscarriage, and I was (irrationally) utterly convinced that there was something wrong with me and I couldn't carry a pregnancy. Hmm

The scan was fabulous. I was very anxious beforehand (and convinced there would be no pregnancy/no viable pregnancy) and at the beginning of the scan, before the sonographer located the baby, I thought I was actually going to throw up with nerves!

But as soon as we saw the baby, moving around and with a healthy heartbeat... well it was one of the most wonderful and memorable moments. The sense of relief was just wonderful.

Admittedly it was only three weeks before my 12 week scan so possibly I should have just held on, but honestly it was 100% worth the money to me. Although I was nervous again before the 12 week scan too, but to a slightly lesser extent.

I'd personally say go for it, if you can afford it.

Sorry, missed your update that you have booked it. Good for you OP and all the best for the scan and your pregnancy! xx

In my experience the early scan I paid for with my last pregnancy only relieved the worry for that day. I had an early scan at EPAU for my current pregnancy and dated 5+4 but still saw a tiny heart beat, I'm earlier on than I thought so might have another one (paid for) about 8 or 9 weeks xx
