Ok so I know all babies weigh totally different at different stages but due to strange growth scans and having to have baby early just wondered what people's babies weighed if they had them early at 38 weeks?? Plus if it made a difference on sex or which number baby it was?
Mine were
37+3 weeks girl 5'13
36+3 weeks boy 6Lb
Awaiting little girl who will be born at 38 weeks exactly

What's your experiences??

My daughter was born 12 days ago at 37+5 (induced, nothing to do with her growth) and weighed 6lb 5.

My son was born at 38 weeks (spontaneous labour) and weighed 6lb 10.

My other son was born at 39 weeks exactly and weighed 7lb 7.

So the girl weighed the least but was the earliest!

All pretty tincey 🥰 my 34 weeks scan showed 4'8 lb with reduced growth they then said at 36 week scan she was 5'14!!! Which ment she had put on more on 2 week than she had in 4! I'm not sure how accurate 😂😂

Both born at 38 weeks...

Boy 7lb 4oz (1st child)
Girl 8lb 7oz (3rd child)

Middle boy was 9lb 11oz at 40 weeks.

babynunber3 · 28/11/2019 21:47

@mistermagpie Wow! Good sizes then! Were they spontaneously born or induced due to complications etc

My girl was induced at 37+5 due to suspected slowed growth/small baby and was 7lbs 6.
My boy was born last week at 38 weeks exactly, induced due to GD and measuring big and he was 8lbs 13.

Growth scans can be 10-20% off either way so take it with a pinch of salt. Good luck op 🙂

@codenameduchess thanks! Yes heard not great lol you beat so much differences in what they say!

DD born at 37+1 was 7lb5oz. Her growth scans all said she was going to be a real chunk, but then pre-eclampsia struck. So early induction it was.

20viona · 28/11/2019 22:42

My daughter was born at 37+4 5lb 3oz induced due to IUGR.

Alrighteo · 28/11/2019 22:43

Dd born at 38+2 was 6lb 3.5ozs. Born early by c-section due to placental abruption.

ohdearymemumof3 · 28/11/2019 22:47

I had a growth scan at 36+2 and she was predicted to be 6lb5oz..

1st baby was a girl born 40+6. 7lb5oz
2nd baby was a boy born 40+6. 8lb5oz

weegiemum · 28/11/2019 22:50

Dd1 was 39+3 and 9lb12!

Ds was 38+4 and 9lb3

Dd2 was 36+6 and 7lb13

I do big babies!! Very glad they were all early.

woogal · 28/11/2019 23:17

39 weeks 6lb 6oz

38 weeks 11lb 4oz

My second was huge. Scans didn't predict anything abnormal about size.

My first was predicted at being 7lb odd at 33 weeks and would be over 10lbs at birth. He was tiny.

Thattwatoverthere · 28/11/2019 23:24

7lb 4oz at 40
5lb 12oz at 38

Vinorosso74 · 28/11/2019 23:28

Anything from 37 weeks is term so I wouldn't class 38 weeks as early. DD was born at 38+3 and weighed 6lb 3oz. My waters went and labour wasn't getting started so had to be induced.

Strokethefurrywall · 28/11/2019 23:47

DS1 @ 37+5 was 6lb 5oz (same as DH)
DS2 @ 38+2 was 6lb

Both were tiny at 46cms in length. I was 6lbs 6oz and I was born at 40+4.

We just grow them small in our family!

NickMarlow · 28/11/2019 23:56

Dd was exactly 38 weeks and 6lbs 11. She didn't go into 0-3 clothes until 6 weeks.

Dd2 was a week late, 7lb 14 and a much more efficient feeder, barely wore newborn clothes at all!

MollysMummy2010 · 29/11/2019 00:14

DD now nearly 10 and born at 4lb4 at 38 weeks. Tall and healthy as can be.

GAW19 · 29/11/2019 00:51

1st DD was born at 38 weeks by Csection, she was 8lb 10oz!
I'm only 4ft 11" and the scans were showing she was around 8lb 14oz so they were worried she'd get stuck!
She was actually more long than chunky! Smile
