CVS retroverted uterus

Hi, I'm new on this so don't really know how it works. But here's a try! I've just turned 33 and am now almost 12 weeks pregnant. This is a planned pregnancy with my partner. A few days ago I had my first scan. There was above average fluid found behind neck and stomoch area of the baby. Been told by the specialist doctor that the odds aren't looking good, most likely a chromosomal abnormality, but genetic disorders mentioned also. Although I knew this was a risk for anyone, i felt i was quite low risk, dont smoke, drink, eat relatively well etc. The news has hit us both hard and emotionally I thought I'd deal with this better. Going a bit off topic.. the point of opening this discussion was to ask if anyone with a retroverted uterus has had a CVS while someone vaginally puts pressure to raise your uterus while the needle is inserted? That's what's going to be attempted on me next week and just wanted to hear from anyone who has experienced this and tell me about discomfort or pain

I’m so sorry your going through this, I went through the same thing in July, I’m 34.

I have/had a retroverted uterus too, but when they did the CVS they just pushed really hard down on my stomach in order to move everything out of the way.

The most painful was the needle giving the anaesthetic, and it was all over in about three minutes.

I highly recommend talking to ARC if you have questions, they are so so helpful

  • there is also a really good group of people on the antenatal tests forum here.

Good luck, and sending you a big hand hold.

Conorgog, I'm the person who wrote the comment you replied to. I deleted my account after an hour because I started to think I'd gone into too much detail 🙈 I googled retroverted uterus CVS and noticed you'd replied. Thankyou for your kind words and information, means a lot x
