Hello everyone. My name is pearluniverse and I am TTC (trying to conceive) for the first time. I came off my combined pill a few days ago and to be prepared I bought some pre-pregnancy vitamins etc. For those of you who went the same route as me (coming off combined pill) how long did it take for you to get pregnant? I understand that it varies from person to person but just wanted to ask......

14 months for me - took a long time for my periods to come back and even then tgey were very irregular so was hard to predict when I was ovulating. Get yourself one of the fertility predictor apps and good luck!

6 weeks after I came off cerezette.

TheRobinIsBobbingAlong · 28/11/2019 16:31

About 5 years to get pregnant the first time, which ended in a MMC. Turned out husband had extremely poor swimmers. We did end up having two DDs a few years later, so all good in the end.

preggersteach · 28/11/2019 17:15

14 months with dc1, 1st cycle with no 2, still can quite believe it!

Orangedaisy · 28/11/2019 17:16

8 months dd1, 15 months dd2 (but was still bf dd1 for first 12 months of that)

I personally havnt been in this situation but I remember my sister trying for her 2nd she came off the pill and it took bang on a year to conceive which they say it can take upto a year for your body to get back to normal.. Obviousally it's different for everyone though x

debbs77 · 28/11/2019 17:19

I'm one of those fertile types.....first time every time, large family, all planned.

However, the last one wasn't planned, I wasn't taking any folic acid, drinking wine, gin etc. Miscarried at 12 weeks. Totally heartbroken.

We are back trying again now my periods are normal again, but not sure how long it'll take xxx

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 28/11/2019 17:26

I took my last pill last Christmas, started trying to conceive at the end of May and got pregnant the first week of trying. My periods never returned to normal before we started trying.

MrsSokhi · 28/11/2019 21:50

Came off the pill in May took until September to have a normal cycle got pregnant on my second cycle of trying after that. Currently 9 weeks
Good luck xx

Samantha1712xx · 28/11/2019 21:54

I came off end of January fell pregnant mid March

Turt · 28/11/2019 23:19

My periods didn't return monthly after stopping but it took 3 cycles over course of 5 months. My advice is don't read too much into ovulation dates. Just have sex and have fun!

Jurassiclover · 29/11/2019 07:38

2nd cycle off the pill, 1st cycle we didn't really try as much, just decided to BD when we wanted etc. 2nd cycle we tried to follow SMEP kind of, so we BD every other day then every day over predicted OV - didn't use OPKs though. Got my BFP that cycle but it sadly ended in MC at 6weeks so I'm back TTC now.

Fingers crossed for you and sending baby dust your way!

SuperSimpleSnogs · 29/11/2019 07:50

Conceived 13 months after coming off cerazette!

pearluniverse · 29/11/2019 09:21

Thank you everyone for your lovely replies @Jurassiclover @MrsSokhi @Delbelleber @Pambo81 It's only my second day in my new decision to have a baby and already i'm exhausted over thinking everything. But I believe that there is a time for everything so when my time comes, it will come. Wish me luck everyone!

2 months

fonxey · 29/11/2019 10:21

Don't get too stressed thinking about how long/short a time everyone else took.

I came off my pull in December, head first actual period in January, conceived in March, tested positive in April.

Making that decision to ttc is very daunting. Like a huge turning point in your life, probably the biggest decision you'll make. It's exciting but can be frustrating!

I was surprised it didn't take me too long. Tbh i was expecting to be ttc-ing for a year considering i was 33-34 and head been on the pill for 14 years.

If just fine and bought myself a new menstrual cup as well when i found out. Never got to use it lol...
