Reatil workers - when did you tell your manager?

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and am a supervisor at a shop. It involves a lot of being on my feet, picking up some heavy objects, using a step ladder, confronting angry customers, serving people, bending down a lot, lifting shop shutters and other strenuous things. I'm not sure when to tell my manager as I feel I shouldn't be doing some of these things during early pregnancy but can't refuse to do them unless I tell them? I don't know if it's too early or not.

When I worked in retail I had to tell my manager early due to needing time of for my first scan.. They should do a risk assessment with you but my manager never did and I still did all those things even when I was heavily pregnant x

I will definitely be refusing to do some of those things haha, especially as I have EDS so there's extra risk.

If you feel uncomfortable I would tell them sooner rather than later. I had to tell my boss early due to health and safety (not retail) and I have been moved into office work. It sucks that everyone at work knows before close friends and family but sometimes it's just not worth the risk

I don't work specifically in retail but my job does sometimes require heavy lifting. I told my Manager straight away 4/5weeks. We did manage to keep it private, although I ended up having quite abit of time off in the first 12 weeks due to bad sickness. So I think some of my colleagues guessed. He did do a risk assessment with mewhich went through every aspect of my job and we listed what I couldn't do.
Wishing you a healthy pregnancy OP.
