Irritable uterus early on

I am 17 weeks and have been getting cramps quite low down in my abdomen. I saw the midwife yesterday and she suggested it could be an irritable uterus. She didn't really say much else. Having googled it, it seems to be more common later on in pregnancy (I found an old thread here from 2013).
Does anyone have any experience of this so early on? Did you have a premature labour or anything like that?

I had that around the same time as you, definitely before 20 weeks . They could see my uterus contracting on the scan! Drink lots of water but everything was fine and now have a 2 year old and 11 weeks with my second! i think it’s just a reaction to your uterus stretching!

I get cramps almost daily and I'm 28 weeks now. It's just your uterus stretching. I had the same with my first two pregnancies too.

Yip, I had it from about then, like really nasty Braxton Hicks. Landed up having steroids at some early week because they were concerned it was going to be early labour.

He was 2 weeks late.

I still haven't forgiven him, that was hard work.

And, he was my 3rd, so, it's not like I didn't know what a stretching uterus felt like.

All you can do is grit your teeth, rest when you can and complain to anyone who will listen about how very uncomfortable it is.

It might pass, maybe baby is having a growth spurt? Sympathies.
