Spotting In Pregnancy - Can Anyone Relate!?.

Hi all,

I am currently 16 weeks 4 days with my first baby.

For the last couple of weeks I have been having on / off spotting, couple of times after intercourse and other times for no apparent reason. Each time it has happened, I've been advised it was just down to my cervix changing.

As I expressed how worried I was, I was referred by my GP last week to go to the EPU for a scan and examination. After having the examination, the Gynecologist said he couldn't see anything wrong with my cervix and confirmed it was still closed (miscarriage panic over!). Although I had no other symptoms, he thought that I might have thrush in the form of the pessary and the cream. As I am Rhesus D Neg, they also gave me the Anti D Injection.

Relieved to say after having the scan, baby is measuring as it should be, heart is beating strong, placenta is in the right place...The sonographer couldn't see any cause for the spotting.

I haven't had the bleeding since the day before the appointment last week but have just gone to the toilet, and the same light pinkish blood was on the tissue.

I am due to see my Midwife this week for my 16 week appointment so will discuss again then, but in the meantime, I wondered if anyone else has had any similar sort of experiences?.

TIA
x

Babyquin2020 first of all congratulations! I know every little thing must be so worrying, I had something similar with my first pregnancy and had a bit of pinkish spotting after intercourse, I would say hold of on having an intercourse until your midwife app, I think it can be quite common to have some spotting but just keep a close eye on it and if you are really worried just go into the emu for a quick check up for peace of mind. I'm sure it's nothing, wishing you all the best Thanks

@Salina2 Thank you! We are super excited!.
The thing that worried me was the spotting was happening not just after intercourse but in between, ie: I am at work today.
I'll speak to my Midwife again, hopefully just part of the pregnancy journey.

Hiya. I've had the same from 16 weeks and after loads of trips to maternity ward and various scans and examinations they have told me that for me it seems that this is just how it is and will be. I've been advised to keep an eye on it and contact them only if the bleeding gets worse or contains clots. Soooo, basically I have the spotting nearly every day and am just getting used to it now!!! It's still a worry but at 21 weeks I have a dancing wriggle and can feel him moving lots which is really reassuring. Try not to panic and see what your midwife says at your appointment. Good luck.

@Cm84 Thanks for your message, it really helped. It's such a mental battle and you can't help but panic every time you see it.

I'm pleased to say I saw my Midwife yesterday for my 16 week and she said it might just be one of those things aswell. Unless it is fresh blood and I have pain, it might just be one of those pregnancy things so I've been advised to keep an eye on it.

We also got to hear Baby's heartbeat aswell, which was lovely!. The scan we had last week was all ok too so the main thing is Baby is ok.

As it's my first, I literally worry about everything ha! I guess that's normal too right!?.

I am yet to feel any movements, I've had the odd 'going over a speed bump' feeling, but not entirely sure if that is Baby making itself know ha.

xxx
