Colostrum expressing

Hi, I am 37 weeks now and going to start expressing some colostrum as recommended by our midwife. She has given us a few 1ml syringes to fill but how many of these should I aim to have filled by the time baby comes? Thanks!

I used 9 syringes within the first 12 hours of her life. I expressed as I went and didn't have a chance to use what I'd previously frozen. Anything helps, when they're screaming because they want feeding, won't latch and you have to hurry and express while they scream... I would have been thankful even having 1 ml with me in hospital...

How do you do this my hospital hasn't mentioned anything about this ? Would love to give it a go I have a midwife appt tomorrow I could ask them then I guess?

Yes ask at your midwife appointment! I didn't express for my first but this baby has a cleft lip and feeding might be an issue so just trying to get ahead of the game!
