Hello, I posted recently about an antenatal appointment I was sent in the post- just said 'antenatal clinic' and as I had started having appointments at the community clinic instead of the local community hospital I was confused as to what it was for.

I rang reception and got a call back saying shes confirmed with the midwife I do need the appointment and will need two weekly bloods from now. Does anyone have any idea what its for? I'll be 32 weeks at the time of the appointment and last bloods at 28 weeks so presumably nothing too urgent (!!) perhaps low borderline low iron?Has anyone else had to have 2 weekly bloods late in pregnancy? I'm low risk for BBV (HIV, Hep B etc) and these definitely came back negative earlier in pregnancy. Am Resus -ve but have had my anti-D.

Thanks!

Can you not ring back and ask what the blood tests are for or if you have a midwife app before hand ask them and they will check for you. I know at my 28 wk bloods they came back low iron so now on iron tablets had to have a blood test the following week for them to double check I was on the correct dosage and have to have another blood test this week because my white or red blood count is low (can't remember which one they said) but unfortunately I don't think anyone on here could actually tell you what the blood tests are for x

It's normal we have bloods at 28,32,34 think it's to check your iron levels and just everything again
