Haemorrhoid pain

I’ve developed a haemorrhoid after iron tablets made me very constipated and it is so so sore. I’ve got cream and an ice pack here at home but I could barely walk after sitting all day at work. I had no idea how painful they are, I feel terrible for people who have them all the time. Would you go to the doctor in a couple of days if it is still very painful or do I just have to tough it out until it goes away?

I generally waited a week to see if it would go and then I'd get the medication from the pharmacist. Only exceptions was when it was bleeding or I could feel it against underwear Confused
If it helps at all the pain I got from them was way worse than labour!

Ah I could have written this! How far along are you? If you are relatively early in pregnancy I would go to the docs as you have a long time of potential suffering to go. However, I found with my first, that almost as soon as I gave birth the pain went (absence of pressure I'm guessing).
I'm not sure what the doctor can actually do apart from prescribe more creams etc as a lot of the treatment options include surgery which might not be ideal in pregnancy. I'm almost 30 weeks with number 2 and just waiting it out this time :( I do find that if I'm really careful when going to the bathroom (no pushing, wet wipes, not sitting for a long time) the pain tends to go in a few days.
It's horrible.

@thatguiltyfeeling yes the pain feels just as bad as having sore bits after giving birth! @MoneyM 36 weeks now so getting close. On Thursday I would have had for 6 days and cream says only to use for 7 days. I have lactulose but it’s not really helping which is probably making the haemorrhoid worse, I wonder if the doctor can prescribe a stronger laxative to get everything moving properly. Honestly had no idea how sore they are!

I am allergic to every cream I have ever tried. The only thing I can use is witch hazel. It is really effective.

I find swallowing a tablespoon of olive oil really helps. It smooths the inside of the bowel
