When did you get stretch marks?

The title says it all really.

30+4 weeks and don’t have any. I don’t have a particularly big bump though.
Does the bump grow massively from now until 40 weeks?
Measuring spot on so I know that’s not an issue. Just not got a huge bump! Got one for sure but not big by any means. Is this maybe why I don’t have any?
Anyone willing to share their experience?

Never got any.

Don't think it was genetics in my case as I already had a few on my hips from starting puberty.

Didn't have a particularly small bump or baby either.

Didn't use expensive creams.

Think in my case it really must've been pure luck I did smother myself in coconut oil daily though.

I'll probably get stretch marks in my next pregnancy if we're lucky enough to have another child. I honestly wouldn't mind at all though.

I got mine in the last few weeks...tho I gave birth 20 months ago and I must be lucky as they're not really noticeable (my floppy belly is tho haha)

RobinsNest17 · 24/11/2019 17:32

They didn't appear until after I'd given birth. Took me by surprise!

CFlemingSmith · 24/11/2019 17:35

It's GENETICS. Not cream. Not oil. Not the size of the bump. Just boring DNA.

Aneley · 24/11/2019 17:35

Used gallons of expensive oils and creams and thought I was getting through - but then at 33w it started and by 36w my belly looks like a very ugly map. Genetics, I guess. My mum had exactly the same.

MatildaCat · 24/11/2019 17:38

Got mine 3 weeks postpartum and now 36 weeks with second and just started appearing again.

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 24/11/2019 17:41

I got a few on each of my hips at around 33/34 weeks, baby had a huge growth spurt around that time so probably that to thank, also got them on the bottom of my boobs but I couldn't tell you when I got them as DP pointed them out to me a few weeks ago (I couldn't see them!!). I'm now 39 weeks and not got any more since

ClinkyMonkey · 24/11/2019 18:41

It's not inevitable. I didn't get any during pregnancy, even though I've got them all over my legs from my teenage years. I honestly thought that I was a prime candidate as I had both my children in my forties (skin not as supple) and obviously because I already had them. My stomach was probably just a big, empty, saggy sack waiting to be filled outGrin

CatyaPurella · 24/11/2019 19:13

I didn't get any with my three, although all they were sub 7lb-ers so maybe I had a smaller bump. However, even though I am slim I still have lots of excess tummy skin and my youngest is 6

WeeDangerousSpike · 24/11/2019 19:58

I didn't get any until 40 weeks! DD born at 40+6. Thought I was doing so well, was really chuffed cos I was massive, then the last week the whole underside of my bump was covered in them.

bubblesqueek · 24/11/2019 20:00

The day before I gave birth then when my bump went down realised I had more. Just come to terms with them and found out I'm pregnant again xx

OhHellllooooo · 24/11/2019 20:05

Didn't get any. Went to 42 weeks, had an almost 10 pounder! Didn't use any fancy creams or anything, just a bit of aveeno when I remembered

bananamonkey · 24/11/2019 20:06

I didn’t get any till I gave birth then a few underneath the bump appeared (although maybe they were hiding). But I also only got the Linea Nigra after birth, so maybe my skin is weird.

darceybussell · 24/11/2019 20:23

None until after I gave birth. I think it could have been partly because my bump shrank back quickly due to breastfeeding. I had a small bump and I used expensive oil even though I knew it wouldn't make any difference. Thought I'd got away with it then one week after the birth, bam, there they were.

toomuchisneverenough · 24/11/2019 20:48

Absolutely covered in them from about 24 weeks.
My stomach was really the only party of my body that had escaped them to that point.

As others have said genetic lottery I'm a size 12 and my body is totally covered. Sad

lilgreen · 24/11/2019 20:50

Didn’t get any either time. DM and Dsis got loads so I expected to. I ate a handful of sunflower seeds daily as I heard/read it helped.

lilgreen · 24/11/2019 20:50

Oh and I had a very flat size 10 tum before.

misskatamari · 24/11/2019 20:51

I got them in literally the last few days! Typical 😂

lilgreen · 24/11/2019 20:51

Ooh I did get some on my bum in my teens so it’s unpredictable.

ChanklyBore · 24/11/2019 20:52

38 plus weeks with dc1. I remember feeling my skin splitting as I walked. Horrible feeling. Dc2 didn’t cause as much damage, just a red smudge or two as an extension of a previous mark. Got a few giving birth, too.

I had a small bump.

Sewingbea · 24/11/2019 20:53

I didn't get any. And I didn't bother with any special oils or any body lotion either. It's the luck of the genetic lottery.

Bellasblankexpression · 24/11/2019 20:56

I’ve been fine and not had any but at 33 weeks a couple have popped up around the sides so I’m expecting more to appear... thought I’d got away with it!

Salene · 24/11/2019 21:08

Last week of pregnancy

MarchSurprise · 24/11/2019 21:23

I'm another that only got stretch marks after giving birth! I had 3 appear. They've faded mostly so I feel pretty lucky but even if they'd stayed, I'd grown quite fond of them for what they produced with my little one.
