Contractions after red raspberry leaf tea!

Looking for some advise from mums familiar with RRL tea!

I’m 31+3 and read about RRL tea being safe and effective from 32 weeks so I decided 4 days won’t make much difference so I went out and got some today. I had ONE cup and have been having what I think are BH for 3 hours on and off (like, a 15 minute break from them every hour or so)! But just in the last half an hour or so, I’ve got some mild cramping/pressure and back ache as well as the contractions! So now I’m worried I could’ve kickstarted something far too early! Confused but it’s late and I don’t drive so I don’t want to go to hospital for what is probably nothing.

Anyone have any advise? TIA

Ring triage.

Have a bath. Take some paracetamol.

Bh are really really common and this isn't very likely to be the start of something. But ask their advice.

I'd contact your midwife unit, you are concerned and are less than 37 weeks so best to get advice. They may well advise you to avoid it or want to see you to check you over.

Everything I ever read said it causes Braxton Hicks because it's used to strengthen the uterine muscles. It doesnt bring labour on, it builds up in your system over weeks to help make labour progress well and also helps minimise bleeding and brings in your milk.

I drank an absolute load of it with all three of my kids and it sometimes brought Braxton hicks on.

But I think with your symptoms I'd be calling up for advice asap at your gestation, raspberry leaf tea drank or not.

Update: I think it may have been a combination of the tea and my mind playing tricks on me! At about 11pm I was in bed and the contractions and everything else had stopped. Wondering if maybe I was just tired? So might move my cup of tea to earlier in the day today!

Thanks for all your concern thoughSmile
