I had a 4d scan nearly 3 weeks ago at 27+4 and the baby had a huge belly. The next day I saw the community midwife who measured me for the first time and baby was measuring big.

On Sunday I attended triage for reduced movements and thankfully all was well. I was brought back the following day for a routine growth scan as part of the assessment. I was then told that the baby was measuring big. As this is the second occasion where baby was measuring big I’ve been booked for a GTT test which is being done next week to rule out gestational diabetes.

I’ve also been booked in for a further growth scan on NYE.

To me the belly looks huge! Has anyone else had scan where the belly looked so big and was it just a big baby?! I know there’s a rationale for it but think I’m just looking for reassurance as my mind is thinking of more sinister!

I had a scan at 36 weeks for a planned home birth and my ds's tummy was so big, the machine could not work out the measurements. The sonigrapher had to do it by hand. He was born at 36 + 6 and weighed 8lbs 10oz. (Very pleased he didn't stay inside until 42 weeks!) The birth was absolutely fine. As my midwife said, unlike heads, tummies are squishy. I didn't have gestational diabetes, he was just a very fat little baby. He had no difficulties at all and is now a strapping 12 year old.

I'm kind of in the same boat Been measuring 4 weeks ahead since 24 weeks. I now 31 week and have had 3 growth scans due to baby being big. His belly measures ahead of everything else. Basically been told he's just a chubby baby. At 30+5 he's already est at 4lb 4oz. Had GTT which was negative

I wouldnt worry yourself about it. If anything was wrong they wouldn't make you wait do long for another scan etc. X
