Sex after giving birth

Assuming you have a vaginal birth, what is sex like afterwards? Does giving birth stretch/widen your vagina so much that there's basically no friction (for want of a better word!) during sex anymore? Or do things go back to normal?

My vagina went back to normal but not straight away. I had my baby a year ago now and things are back to normal. I'm not sure how long it took. 6 months maybe, for it to be as "tight" as before.

My baby was only 5lbs11oz though and not in the birth canal for very long at all. I also had an episiotomy and forceps delivery.

Had a straightforward vaginal birth to PFB. 2nd degree tear. Resumed sex life when baby was 3 months old. He is 1 now and honestly everything down there has gone completely back to normal. Fiancé can't tell any difference either.

That's good to hear! It's incredible that the human body can push out a huge baby and things can still spring back to normal!

I felt a bit different down there,definitely not as tight

I’ve had 5 births and pretty sure my vagina is back to normal! Never had any complaints 😁

I'm hoping to have another baby one day and I'm not sure if it'll be the same again after that but I don't really mind.

I had a forceps delivery so they also shoved metal tongs up there as well as a baby 😬 I had a complicated infection down there after birth, it took months to sort out, I needed new stitches a couple times & it was uncomfortable to use tampons on my period for months (I formula fed so my periods came back quickly) So I’d say it took about 6 months to resume sex here & I was quite nervous but all was OK!

My advice, do your pelvic floor exercises, tightens things right up!
