I'm 31 wks today, and been getting lots of BH contractions for past 3-4 days. At least, I think that's what it is - bump goes tight and hard, and I can usually feel baby kicking with it. I know BH are normal, but I swear it must be 20-25 times a day. I'm lying in bed now and it's been constant for 15 minutes or so. Is this normal?

I think it can vary.. I had a lot from about 24 weeks and found they were worse when I was sitting or laying down. Changing position usually got them to stop so maybe try that if they are uncomfortable? I had excess amniotic fluid as well which can make them more frequent apparently.

39 weeks now and getting them a lot more frequently and also when standing up.. Hmm

Funny you should post this. I went in to day assessment yesterday as woke up with tightenings every 5 mins, causing back pain. Im 34 weeks and back pain was the 1st clue with DS i was in labour before having him at 34 weeks aswell. Trace was picking them up and although tight and very uncomfortable, they didnt hurt. I had an fFn test which was negative and said its likely BH. Im still getting them regularly and they are getting on my nerves. Guzzling loads of water seems to get rid of them for a bit

I had them really strongly and frequently with all five pregnancies. From certainly around the 30/32ish week mark.
I remember mentioning it to my mum after being almost winded by a powerful one and she was baffled. Had also had five pregnancies and swore vehemently she'd never experienced such a thing!

Thanks for putting my mind at rest, ladies! This is my first pregnancy, so I have no idea of what is normal, even for me!
