Hi, so I had a TV scan last friday which showed that I was 6wks and 3days. I then started bleeding heavily for a day and then red spotting for 3days. I'm still getting really strong pregnancy symptoms (painful boobs, bad indigestion and sickness) and tonight I've done a clear blue weeks indication test and it's still coming up at 3+ I know pregnancy hormones still stay around for a while but is if normal to still be getting strong symptoms and a strong pregnancy test a week on. Has anybody had similar?

I remember having an internal scan at around 6+5 and they told me then that I may bleed for a day after it. If you're worried phone your doctor they may be able to help out?

Thanks for your reply, yeh I called the epu and they just said there was no point in coming in because if they scanned again it would probably just show a miscarriage happening. But I might insist on going tomorrow. There was a lot of blood so I'm unsure if I could be caused by the TV scan. My symptoms are worse than ever.

Unfortunately I was in your position and I had an internal scan, then bled for the next week afterwards. I phoned my doctors and referred to midwives. They told me, like you have been told, that they would be able to scan me in 2 weeks time due to the same reason you have been told. I did a test about 5 days after and it came back negative - that's when I knew that I had miscarried. But my symptoms went pretty much the day after my scan.

I held onto my photo and the thought that there was a heartbeat for the next 2 weeks until my scan at the epu.. I can only suggest, book your scan for a week's time maybe, that's enough time for everything to settle and enough time for you to still get the answers you need.

I'm sorry this is happening to you, try not to panic too much, as hard as it is to say. I'm crossing everything for you that your baby is still there. It's a horrible thing to be going through - I know.

Sorry just realised when you put that message up - did you end up going in today for a scan? If so, I hope everything was ok.

Thanks for your reply and sharing your experience. It's such an awful thing to go through to see your baby on the scan with a heartbeat and then the next day to lose it. I decided against going back because I figured they would just do another internal scan... which I think I've developed a bit of a phobia of. I'm still getting strong symptoms and pregnancy tests though over a week after and getting the 3+ on the clear blue weels indicator. So confusing

If you’re still getting a 3+ and having symptoms over a week later then I’d say you probably need some follow up in case this is an incomplete miscarriage or even (small chance) an ongoing pregnancy. I would give EPU a ring next week and see what they advise. You could always ask them to do an abdominal scan first if you’re not keen on another vaginal one.

Hi, thanks for everyones comments. Just a quick update, just incase anyone is reading and in a similar situation. After being sure I had a miscarriage I had a scan today that showed I'm pregnant till... in shock is an understatement
