Using the 'nub' method to see if it's a boy or girl?

Hi,

So using the nub theory I'm wanting to see if people's nub theory was always correct? Or if there were some nubs that look like a boy or a girl but in fact we're the opposite when born or at a gender scan...

This is my scan picture. Could anyone take a guess?

Guess boy

From my understanding the Nub theory gets more "accurate" (for want of a better word) the later the scan is performed. Try the Facebook group "strictly nub theory" they will give you a prediction. If it's an earlier scan they usually guess but add a caveat that the fetus still has time to develop.

I'd guess boy based on your scan.

This is for 12 weeks 6 days.

Why don't you do a sneak peek test, that can detect gender from 8 weeks

okokokthen · 21/11/2019 16:10

I've never heard of anywhere able to say the gender from 8 weeks. All scans only show from 15 weeks earliest. I'm sure they look pretty similar upto 12 weeks as well.

Is the sneak peek not a blood test rather than a scan?

Allegorical · 21/11/2019 16:26

I’m a sonographer. You can’t see on this scan.

okokokthen · 21/11/2019 16:42

@Allegorical ok. Is the other thing near the leg another leg/umbilical cord? I didn't know if it was the nub or something else.

I don’t know what thing you are referring to. I can’t see anything. Girl bits you would expect to be more prominent sticking out the “bottom end”. boy bits you expect to poking out in front above the legs. I can’t see either. If anything it is more likely to be a boy as girl bits are more prominent on the 12 week scan and I can’t see them at all. But don’t think it’s a perfect midline scan so couldn’t call it.

The nub isn’t visible in your pic.
