Confused about dates and scan

Hi can anyone help as I’m a bit confused with my dates and a little worried.

Missed a period and took a Sainsbury’s test. This was positive. I then waited a couple to days and took a clear blue dates one and it said 2-3 weeks. I took another one on the Monday just gone and it had changed to 3+ so all good on that front.

We had unprotected sex on 17th October so conception would be within a week of that. This put me at around 7 weeks according to the calculator.

I had an early scan yesterday and the lady said she could see and sac and yolk, but no baby is visible at the moment. She did some measurements and said she’s putting me at 5/6 weeks. So either it’s just to early to see, or the baby’s not growing.

Definitely or ectopic as the yolk is in the sac. I’m a bit deflated as I thought there should be a heartbeat by now and am worried there isn’t a baby.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you been advised to go for a further scan in 2 weeks? Try not to worry, things tend to progress at different rates for everyone (which I didn't know).

I went for an early private scan 2 weeks ago as I wanted to confirm viability (this is my first pregnancy). Going by LMP I would have been 7+6 but I was tracking ovulation and knew I ovulated on CD20 which would have put me at 7+1. However, the sonographer measured me at 8+0 which is technically impossible!

Having read a lot about dating in early pregnancy, it can be out by a few days/a week.

I'm going for another scan tonight. Going by my last scan I should be 10+1 today so will be interesting to see what they say.

Thank you so much. I’m will try not to stress but as it’s my first, my head in spinning in overdrive. Plus I made the mistake of going on google which made me feel worse

Yes they did advise me to go back in 10/14 days

@RememberMeDanny Google is not our friend! I'm a google addict and it hasn't really done me any favours either. More horror stories than anything else.

I bet in 2 weeks time you see a cute wee blob with a flickering heartbeat :)

I was dated at 10+0 today, so a day behind what I was expecting based on my 8 weeks scan. I was also told that this could change again at my 12 week scan so I guess it's more of a rough estimate at this stage and as long as it's in the ball park we are all good x
