Buying baby a Christmas present

Kate3150 · 21/11/2019 13:44

I’m having an ELCS a couple of weeks before Xmas.
I don’t know what to do about a Christmas present. Obviously he won’t know what’s going on but want to get him something. I also don’t want to buy something for the sake of it, I hate wasting money. What are others doing? All ideas/thoughts welcome 😊

A Christmas bauble with ‘Baby’s First Christmas’ on it.

DS is also a baby and I bought him a cute hedgehog soft toy and a firefighting station dollhouse for boys for when he’s a bit older.

I wouldn't worry about getting anything tbh. If you have family you'll probably already be given loads of stuff. If you want to get something though how about a keepsake? A personalised bauble maybe? For dd2s first Christmas she was just over a month old. I had a soft photo book made for her with pictures of me and her dad and sister. It's all soft and crinkly so ok for baby.

I have a one month old. We are buying toys (she was given so many clothes when she was born) that she'll grow into between now and her next birthday! And when asked by people what to buy her we are asking for the same.

Dd was born the beginning of December.
We didn't bother, our families did. A personalised Christmas stocking, a first Christmas bauble and several blankets.

RanchoRelaxo · 21/11/2019 13:56

Perhaps a nice personalised blanket? It will be more of a keepsake for you but still lovely, and something you might not buy without the 'excuse' of a Christmas present

Thanks for all your ideas 💜
I was thinking something personalised but we haven’t picked a name yet... we’re waiting until he’s here. I guess I’ll just have to hope I can get something delivered in time if we go down the personalised gift route... x

For dd's first Christmas i got her a hamper of everything she would need for the baby swimming lessons that we were going to do in the new year - costume, towel, nappies, after swim shampoo etc.

MsSquiz · 21/11/2019 14:03

I'm due on the 19th December, so hoping she is here before Christmas.
I have wrapped a few bits up to put in her stocking - for my benefit obviously, not hers!

The things I've got wrapped up are:
A baby's first Christmas bauble for the tree
2 board books with first words
A copy of Charlotte's Web (her name will be Charlotte)
A festive outfit she can hopefully wear on Christmas Day
A cuddly bunny rabbit

My son was 11 mths old at his first Christmas- his great nan bought him a harrods Christmas bear, they have the year on the foot, so his birth year. (He's now 16 and it's still in his room) I have gone on to do this for all of my friends and family's babies first Christmas as I thought it was such a lovely gift. X

My pair were a few months old.
While they didn't care at the time now they are in secondary school they like looking at photos of them dressed in Christmas pudding outfits and snowmen etc.

Mine all got baby's first Christmas t-shirts and small baby toys, DS2 got a V-tech tambourine for example.

A toy
Christmas bauble (personalised)
Christmas Day outfit

My DD will be 8 weeks at Christmas. I've got her a my first christmas bauble, a couple of cuddly toys, a couple of baby's first xmas baby grows, a rattle, a bath book, and a set of mini 'very hungry caterpillar' board books to start off her own little library. She also has a new dress to wear christmas day. Written down that seems like a lot for a baby who will only be interested in feeding and sleeping on the day!

DD was due on Xmas day and arrived on 23rd two years ago. It didn't cross our minds to buy her something for Christmas.
