Any midwives/wiser than me shed some light on GROW chart?

Hello,

I have a personalised GROW chart (I think everyone has? Not sure!) for fundal height based on previous DD LGA (95th centile- 6lb 13 born 36+5) and my pre baby BMI (21.5). Had my 31 week check today and measuring 31cm. As far as I can see in books etc that’s spot in inasmuch as you’re supposed to be around the same cm as weeks give or take 3/4cm. However on my GROW chart I’m tracking 90th centile (28cm At 28 weeks now 31 at 31 weeks). Does this mean next baby is likely to be LGA too? No growth scan indicated as tracking it in a regular curve and I’m not bothered about having one just confused as I thought if you were the same cm as weeks surely that would be the 50th centile with the 3cm either side being the higher or lower centile?
Sorry if that doesn’t make sense! Any advice or insight welcome! Not worried just confused!

This is because they create a personalised Growth chart based on the growth from your previous pregnancy. If this was your first pregnancy they would have nothing previous to go on so your baby would be measuring on the 50th centile as the growth chart would be generic average.

Thanks @snowflakeel I just find it hard to understand. If she was LGA why would I be measuring 90th centile this time when the measurements seem right?

I see what you mean. I'm afraid I don't have a concrete answer to that, however, what I would say is that these measurements are crude and this time around I had some odd growth measurements taken. (third pregnancy)

First midwife put the growth within my range. Then I had a different midwife and she measurement me 4 weeks behind and arranged an urgent scan. The scan revealed that baby was in fact measuring bang on perfect mid range for growth. Then a week later my usual midwife measured me again and I came up as measuring 2 weeks ahead. We just looked at one another and neither she or I batted an eye lid as my scan was perfect it was simply impossible for baby to have grown that much in 1 week. As long as I measure along a steady line that my usual midwife is taking then neither her of I are concerned.

If you are concerned do speak with your midwife to get her thoughts on it.

Thank you for your experience! I know the measurements aren’t perfect anyway I just don’t understand the logic 😂
