I had a sweep at midday on my due date. dd3 arrived at 3.44 the following morning. Good luck!

fifisworld · 20/08/2007 14:50

It didnt work for me i went excatly 2 weeks over and ended up being induced, which still didnt work and ended up with cs.

BUT..on the other hand sil was in labour 2 days after sweep so i think it just depends.

bambi06 · 20/08/2007 14:51

im having one tomorrow ..please let it work .as im having homebirth and running out of time..see other thread of mine!!!!

bambi06 · 20/08/2007 14:52

was it uncomfortable and what was your bishops score?

IdrisTheDragon · 20/08/2007 14:52

I had a sweep when I was 40+3 at about 1:30pm.

Contractions started at about 6:45 the next morning and DD was born at 1:26pm .

hi bambi06 it wasn't that bad at all less uncomfortable than a smear. and as for my biships score i don't think i had that done!

supposedly they check the bishops score to see whether the inducing will be worth doing and according to some article on internet i read the other day ..it needs to be more than 7 for it to be successful.. have a look in your notes and towards the back it will say bishops score and she will have written down what it was..

martini82 · 20/08/2007 15:01

but sayig that i just went for a check up and the mw said she could do it there and then. i was more concerned that my ds age 3 would be asking what she was doing as i went on my own with him!! i'm supposed to be having a home birth too!!!

just checked my notes and nothing has been written for the bishops score

I was really excited as I knew this may be the start of it all! It didn't hurt at all. I bled a tiny bit after and they said some of the mucus plug had come away.
I felt odd the next day and went to delivery suite (high BP) They axamined me at 7.45pm and was 4cm. They broke my waters at 9.15pm and she was born at 11pm!!! Really fast, amazing and scary - but WONDERFUL to finally meet her!

mosschops30 · 20/08/2007 15:12

martini dont get too excited.

That baby will only come if it wants too, not as a direct result of the sweep.

I had three sweeps, none worked, was induced at 42+1

Good luck

martini82 · 20/08/2007 15:13

i`m having to have childcare sorted as my other two are 6 and 7 ..can you imagine the questions and telling everyone back at school in sept

Hopeitwontbebig · 21/08/2007 18:45

My labour started the day after I had a sweep, but I was 5 days overdue, so hard to know whether it would have started anyway. Sorry if that's not much help!
