Hello I have recently become pregnant. For the 3rd time. After two previous miscarriages. And trying for 3 years. I have pcos. The fertility dr at the miscarriage unit as prescribed me, metaformin. As apparently reduces miscarriages. They have started me on 500mg for 1 week. 2nd week 1000mg. 3rd week 1500mg. The dose seems quite extreme. I will take what ever I have to take to prevent miscarriage. As anyone else been on this dose? Or any advice? Think I'm just being paranoid?

I have been on that dose before but not during pregnancy. I was on it due to pcos and infertility problems. Both time I've been on metformin and become pregnant I've stopped taking it but that's been on my own accord. I don't think they would prescribe that much for you if it wasn't safe during pregnancy etc. But if you are worried about the dosage you should speak with your consultant just to double check and put any doubt in your mind to rest xx

I was also on 4 tablets a day due to fertility problems and pcos but once I fell pregnant was told I could come off it but you're on it for different reasons

1500 a day is absolutely fine. That's what I was on before pregnancy and am still on now (24 weeks pregnant).
