hi
im researching nursing bras as i will be breastfeeding my daughter and just want to know what the best nursing bra brand is. i havent had any luck at the minute i just want a good nursing bra but comfy and the ones ive found are never in my size, and how often do i need to get measured because ive been measured when i got my maternity bras and they said to go back to get remeasured but im not sure how many weeks i have to be to get remeasured as your boobs grow even more before labour.

My hospital had a bra lady who would come and fit you on the maternity unit (or at home if you preferred), so that could be an option.

I went a few weeks after birth to M&S and picked some up there. They were very comfortable, and not unreasonably priced.

Hi @DivGirl
i will try M&S for some but i dont think my hospital has a bra lady i could ask my midwifee as she may know but i think m&s will be my best bet if i want to be comfy. most places never have my size which is a pain because its not my cup size its my back i have a very small back and its always hard to find one that fits snug around my back area.

I had M&S ones which were too small but I was desperate for something and I've just been to bravissimo and bought some more, so you have one of those local? I'd say just buy one when you're full term and then see how you get on with it size-wise when your milk comes in, then buy more when you're in the swing of it. Good luck!

I don’t know about sizes, but George at Asda do good nursing bras, and they are good value in case you do end up buying a few different sizes.

They are decent quality too- I am currently wearing the same ones for breastfeeding my 6 week old as I did when I breastfed my almost 3 year old for 16 months.

Bravissimo are wonderful and have some great ones! They do have advice online about measuring yourself correctly and their customer service is excellent. I had nursing bras from there for both kids. First one I bought at 37 weeks from store. I gave birth 3 weeks later and lost 4 inches around my rib cage! They sent me a new one for free 😁.

I wouldn't recommend marks and Spencer for theirs. I had one and chucked it.

That said though, I was a 32HH so had the small back big boobs issue!

I got the bra firing service at Debenhams n bought bras from them. Perfect fitting for the entire year that i nursed my DS1

Look at the Facebook Group "Can I breastfeed in it UK". Loads of suggestions for bra makes on there. I see Hot Milk and Molke coming up a lot! Also advice on how to fit. Personally I like M&S for daytime and Jojo Maman Bebe sleep bras.

I must have bought 30 nursing bras during my 2.5 years breastfeeding. The best by far were the very cheap, very stretchy ones from H&M.

Your boobs will change size dramatically during breastfeeding so don’t expect to buy a couple of “really good ones” that will last you the duration.

Hotmilk were a game changer for me.

Are you big? I.e. do you need much support? Like a pp, I just used soft ones - mostly from amazon, but also got some prettier lacy ones from H&M. Only problem is you'll never want to wear a proper bra again 😂

If you do go for something more structured, it's best to wait a few weeks for your supply (and hopefully breast size) to settle - around 6 weeks? Might be an idea to just get some soft bras to see you through those first few weeks. Ill-fitting bras can cause blockages so best avoided!

H&M also do nursing vests with hidden support which I really liked, again just depends whether you'd be comfortable with that level of support.

MarthaJean1994 · 10/12/2019 20:13

Thanks for the advice, i have found some nice bursing bras and my mum recommended the brand and they do them on amazon at really good prices and they aren't to expensive either.

I found that depending where you go your size can change a lot. I went from 34DD to 34FF in early pregnancy with debenhams but couldn't find a good fit for nursing bras from them so went to m and s and ended up currently fitting in 38D with around 11 weeks till I'm due but wanted at least one nursing bra to start with and will buy more once I know my size once my milk comes in.

tinyrobot2 · 11/01/2020 21:20

I use my normal bedside lamp, with a couple of muslins draped over it

Mamabear2020 · 12/01/2020 09:21

32H here and wouldnt bother measuring for nursing bras until at least 6 weeks AFTER baby arrives, 12 if you can wait that long as milk supply should be settling by then. I live in stretchy crop tops until then.

Would definitely recommend a grolight for feeding (and changing, giving medication, etc). Still using ours 18 months in and already bought another for the next one.

Mamabear2020 · 12/01/2020 09:23

I should have added - measuring - I'd use bravissimo or (if you're struggling to get out in the early days of cluster feeds) then measure yourself using Boob or Bust website.

M&S still +4 as their size range is limited.

frost8bite · 03/02/2020 13:19

I really loved this one... stopped breastfeeding but still wear it as its super comfy!!
