Mucus Plug 21 weeks TMI Pic

So it’s 4am and I’m having a panic.

Went to the loo and wiped and I’m pretty sure it’s part of my mucus plug. It was a ball about the size of a marble and I couldn’t break it apart. I’m only 21 weeks so naturally I’m now freaking out as I’ve only ever heard of women seeing this before labour ... and I’m very much not ready for that! Also does that mean risk of infection for baby? Do I need to do anything different?

I will call my midwife in the morning and hopefully she will get back to me quickly (I feel like I don’t need to ring maternity triage?), but had anyone ever lost it early on and it all been okay?

Please please don't worry, I lost little bits like that from about 23 weeks. FWIW I thought it was general discharge. DS came at 37 weeks, totally healthy.

@OhWellThatsJustGreat thank you for your reply, it helps. Google was not helpful! We had 2 miscarriages before this little guy so I think I’m more anxious than some when it comes to these things. I generally get a good amount of discharge from pregnancy, this just looks/feels very different.... and gross!

As long as it's not bloody the it's fine to lose some of it. They regenerate it's fairly common to lose bits of the plug earlier

@keyboard91 how did you get on with the midwife?
