Hi all,

Had PET CT scan last week and there was mild take up around my left ovary. Was pretty anxious as the scan was performed as part of my follow-up post breast cancer. Anyway, a transvaginal scan on Friday showed a haemorrhagic cyst on my left ovary and a pregnancy. 5 and a half weeks worth of one. Quite the surprise as I was sure chemo had ended any chance of conceiving naturally...

Anyway, I'm a mix of thrilled and also super nervous for various reasons...blasting am embryo with radiation being up there as well as the post cancer cloud. Also not loving the sound of any type of cyst which is able to pick up radioactive tracer.

With my history in mind I really want to make the right call in terms of maternity hospital...is anyone able to make recommendations based on experience with consultants as well as midwives? My nearest is West Mid so that would be ideal.

Sorry for essay. Thanks so much in advance x

Congratulations!

I had a really high risk pregnancy earlier this year (the baby's 11 weeks old today). I was at West Middx and had an extremely positive experience. I was an antenatal inpatient for all of August (from pancreatitis at 33 weeks until induction at 37 weeks) and prior to that was under the fetal and obstetric medicine teams. They were kind, nurturing and they got me and DD to 37 weeks against the odds. Happy to share more details by DM to avoid clogging up your thread but wishing you a safe and smooth pregnancy.

Just re-read that and it's garbled! The fetal/obstetric medicine teams saw me as an outpatient from 12 weeks and then as an inpatient from 34 weeks. Joanna Girling is extremely impressive, and her team looked after us beautifully.

Thank you!

And thank you so much for your reply...that's really reassuring particularly as it sounds like lots was going on. Would love a DM if you are happy to share 💜 Going to give Joanna Girling a google now. Hope you are well and a happy 11 weeks to your little daughter! Smile xx

@Firsttimer3 I thought they do a pregnancy test before exposing youvto radiation unless you’re missing womb/both ovaries. Sorry, not answering your question and congrats on pregnancy.

I've had a fair few scans and that's never happened...I did sign a form, however, stating that there was no chance I was pregnant! Perhaps they do a test if you can't be sure. Thank you so much x
