13 weeks pregnant, massive bleed with clots last night

I had three miscarriages between September last year and June this year. I found out I was pregnant again in September and after a slightly shaky start with spotting at 6 weeks, I was put on Cyclogest and all seemed to be going well. I had my dating scan at 11+5 and everything looked perfect. I've spent the past week telling friends and family that I'm pregnant.

But early yesterday evening, at 13 weeks exactly, I had a sudden, heavy bleed with a couple of massive clots - one was like a handful of chopped liver. It's all a bit of a blur now, I just remember screaming a lot. DH immediately bundled me into the car as he shouted at my MIL - who thank god is visiting this weekend - to look after our DS.

We went to A&E and I got triaged pretty quickly and had some bloods taken, then got to see a gynecologist a few hours later. By this point the bleeding seemed to have stopped and when the doctor did a speculum examination, she said there was no sign of active bleeding and she's pretty sure my cervix is closed (she couldn't quite see it properly as it's apparently very high up).

I'm going back to the EPU tomorrow for a scan and I'm utterly petrified and devastated. I don't know what I'll do if I lose this baby now, after getting through the first trimester and allowing myself to believe it was really going to happen this time.

I know the fact the bleeding has stopped is potentially promising and part of me is hoping it was a blood clot - but wouldn't something have shown up on the scan if that was the case? It was only 10 days ago.

A difficult to see high cervix is good in pregnancy.

I had 2 miscarriages at 7 and 14 weeks and now have a healthy 6month old baby. With her I had gigantic red bleeds with clots sometimes the size of my palm from 7 to 17 weeks baby was absolutely fine I had a extra chronic hemorrhage attached to sac which disappeared by 20 week scan. Things can be ok but after previous loss it's just heartbreaking and really messes with your head, I'm sure you'll be ok. Also no pain is great. My clot didnt show up until I started to bleed and was then missed on a few scans until I had my 12 weeker and they could see it very clearly. Take care x

Thanks all. @xJune88, I hope I'm as lucky as you, and as your friend @Loti92. My scan is in a couple of hours so not long until I know.

Bleeding while on progesterone pessaries is often normal. I had a few clots too.

Hope all is okay OP! Flowers

Everything is okay!

We saw the baby wriggling and waving and the heartbeat is strong. There is no sign of any bleeding or clots or any clue as to what might have happened, which is really frustrating, but obviously the most important thing is that the baby is okay.

Hi- I am so pleased for you. I am 12+6 and over the weekend had such awful stomach and back pains. Today had scan and it was amazing! Clear picture of baby bouncing around etc. What relief.

I had my actual dating scan Friday. So I can relax now. We are telling people in next week or so now I guess!

Jurassiclover · 18/11/2019 18:34
