I had three miscarriages between September last year and June this year. I found out I was pregnant again in September and after a slightly shaky start with spotting at 6 weeks, I was put on Cyclogest and all seemed to be going well. I had my dating scan at 11+5 and everything looked perfect. I've spent the past week telling friends and family that I'm pregnant.
But early yesterday evening, at 13 weeks exactly, I had a sudden, heavy bleed with a couple of massive clots - one was like a handful of chopped liver. It's all a bit of a blur now, I just remember screaming a lot. DH immediately bundled me into the car as he shouted at my MIL - who thank god is visiting this weekend - to look after our DS.
We went to A&E and I got triaged pretty quickly and had some bloods taken, then got to see a gynecologist a few hours later. By this point the bleeding seemed to have stopped and when the doctor did a speculum examination, she said there was no sign of active bleeding and she's pretty sure my cervix is closed (she couldn't quite see it properly as it's apparently very high up).
I'm going back to the EPU tomorrow for a scan and I'm utterly petrified and devastated. I don't know what I'll do if I lose this baby now, after getting through the first trimester and allowing myself to believe it was really going to happen this time.
I know the fact the bleeding has stopped is potentially promising and part of me is hoping it was a blood clot - but wouldn't something have shown up on the scan if that was the case? It was only 10 days ago.
