Clearblue how many weeks

My periods only just returned a couple of months ago after having my first baby nearly 11 months ago. This was the first month that we decided to start trying again...

I took a test on Thursday morning and it said pregnant 1-2 weeks. I also tested on a cheap Tesco own brand and got a positive. I then left it until this morning to see if it had gone beyond 1-2 weeks as I know that conception was either on the 25th or 31st (most likely 25th). This should surely mean that the test should show 3+ by now?! It said 1-2 weeks again.

Slightly worried having had tests that showed 2-3 and 3+ at the correct times in my first pregnancy.

I know there’s nothing I can do but wait but just wanted to share as I’ve not told any friends yet and partner isn’t worried!

Any thoughts?

Thanks

You could have been at the very bottom of 1-2 weeks on Thursday and now at the very top of it. Hcg only double every 48 hours. So that's only 2 lots of doubling allowed for. I wouldn't worry over it. Congratulations!

It's hard to know. Are 25th and 31st when you DTD or when you think you ovulated? I ovulated around 29th and got a 2-3 weeks on Friday morning, I was using OPKs so I'm pretty confident on the conception date though. Some people don't get positives as early as others either, I think you can implant later. That's not much use, sorry. Have you pulled the tests apart to see if there was any like progression?

Clairee84 · 17/11/2019 07:40

Thank you.

Yes DTD on 25th and 31st but think I ovulated on 25th. Congratulations to you EnglishRain.

Hopefully I’m just over thinking this! I didn’t realise you could pull the tests apart, I’ll have a go at that now.

It's not recommended to pull the tests apart! I would get some pink dye tests and watch line progression that way! But remember to leave 2 days between taking them!

Boymummy3 · 17/11/2019 08:20

Thats correct that it says 1- 2 Weeks. If you concieved on the 25th just say then that was only just over 3 weeks ago... 1-2 on cb digital is classed as 3-4 weeks pregnant...

Clairee84 · 17/11/2019 08:27

Oh thank you. I thought that it measured how many weeks since conceiving.

I’ll get some pink dye tests and have a go in a couple of days.

The reason I say pull apart is because the battery on a clear blue is dead after a day, so they're no use after that anyway. We aren't talking about pulling apart a test with a faint/possibly non existent line to see if it's a better line when pulled apart, which is why some people pull non digitals apart.

You're definitely pregnant OP, hopefully you will feel reassured soon though. The worry is horrid x

Clairee84 · 17/11/2019 08:57

Thanks. I did pull one apart but couldn’t see much to be honest. It didn’t have a line like a non-digital.

The worry is horrid. I was like this with my first and didn’t think I’d be like this again with a second!!

@Clairee84 congratulations on your pregnancy!

Anyways, you shouldn't rely on the weeks indicator for your counting, that's mostly for fun.
You midwife will ask you your LMP and that's what will be until your dating scan.

I got negative with Clearblue digital and all other tests were positive. Definitely everyone produces HCG differently.

Clairee84 · 17/11/2019 11:17

Thanks. I’ll sit tight and try not to worry too much!

Hi
so I’m either 5+5 or 6+3 and tested again on a digital today. I know I shouldn’t but I’ve read a few threads on here where people do not have a good outcome when the weeks are not progressing as they should. Still showing as 2-3 weeks. Ill try and see if I can get a blood test just so I know what is going on....

If it was an ectopic or chemical would the levels be rising like this? I have no symptoms except very very mild period type pains occasionally.

Those dates are based from conception dates as I’m unsure of LMP date.

Maybe it's better to get some bloods done, but that's also from person to person, not everyone produces hcg the exact same way. No one counts anyways from conception.

An idea could be an early scan, maybe your gp can refer you to EPAU so they can figure out.

Clairee84 · 05/12/2019 19:39

Just updating in case anybody else is searching for this. I had a private scan on Sunday morning and they couldn’t locate anything. I was referred to EPAU the following day and they classified it as a Pregnancy of Unknown Location.

My hcg levels have been monitored and are unfortunately not dropping from 2000 indicating an ectopic. I will be having the injection tomorrow.

I know for many the clear blue weeks indicator is not so accurate but it was for me.

Really sorry to hear your news. It's so frustrating when you rely on so many tests and get your hopes up and then it doesn't work out. Flowers
