HG Hell

Hiya, this is my first pregnancy - I’m between 8-12 weeks but these past two weeks have been pure hell. I’m suffering with HG which has lead to my first trip to A&E which I was given anti-sickness medication and a fluid drip, then I was sent home with more medication (cyclizine). I am being sick all day, I can’t hold food or fluids down and now I can’t even hold my medication down. I’m putting off calling the maternity unit as I would rather avoid being admitted and just praying the medication kicks in soon but it hasn’t happened yet. It’s so debilitating I’m now off work and I’m just struggling to see how I’m going to cope through to full term if I carry on this way.

If you can't keep the meds down then you need to speak to your Midwife ASAP. It's dangerous for you and baby for you to be so dehydrated. You may need IV anti-emetics.

I hope you manage to get it under control and start to feel better soon x

Come on over to the Hyperemesis thread! It’s a bit further down the board. A whole bunch of us supporting each other, having a little cry & discussing treatment.

You’ve been put on the first line anti-sickness which is often completely useless for HG sufferers. There are many more stronger meds that most of us end up on. This is my second HG pregnancy & Im horrendously sick unless I take a drug called ondansetron. It’s the strongest one out there bar steroids.. but there are others in between as well!

Check out the charity called Pregnancy Sickness Support. They have support & guidance on the condition & medication, treatment etc! A fantastic resource, they’ve been a lifeline for me!
