Hi all

Late pregnancy and heartburn is horrific. Been taking gaviscon like it's going out of fashion.

Tried my best to stick to the max dose on the bottle but I think I've taken more on a few occasions.

Does anyone know if this is harmful to baby or myself?

I've read it's unlikely to harm you but can't seem to find anything about whether it's bad for baby?

Unfortunately getting a dr appointment at this stage is near on impossible so I can't get any other meds.

Thanks!

Could you try adjusting what you're eating? Is there a pattern? Mine was always after fatty/rich foods

TheVelvetSpoonRoutine · 16/11/2019 10:44

Unfortunately it's after everything, and also when I haven't eaten for a while Sad

There used to be a pattern but it's gotten a lot worse lately

I dont think there is anything to worry about maybe google some home remedies if you dont want to have too much gaviscon. I eat Tums asif they are going out of fashion of a night as thats when my heartburn hits its a nightmare. Only thing i did read which i never knew is too much milk can make it worse so on the off chance your drinking milk to try ease it just dont have too much xx

Thanks Boy I didn't realise that about milk! I do drink quite a lot of it. I'll keep it in check

It can be a trial can't it!

Really don’t worry. I’ve never measured gavisvon, I literally swig it from the bottle in vast quantities! Gaviscon isn’t absorbed into your blood stream, it sits in your stomach doing it’s thing & eventually passes through. Taking too much is only going to cause you side effects, it can’t reach baby!

I used to get through the largest sized bottle in less than a week when I was in later stages of pregnancy. It's horrible, I really feel for you!

SuperSimpleSnogs · 16/11/2019 16:52

Oh I drank it like water! Didnt bother even reading the label so wasnt aware there was a max dose Blush

Thank you all I feel a lot better now!

Tbh it is very tempting to just drink it haha
