Period-like cramps in late pregnancy?

Hi all

I'm currently nearly 38 weeks pregnant and for the last week or so I've been getting pains almost identical to menstrual cramps.

Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm hoping it's a sign that labour is quite imminent as I'm getting very large and achey GrinWink

Do they come and go? For me, contractions felt just like period cramps but they would last for 30 seconds or so (in the beginning of labour) and then let up.

You may be getting close!

Any discharge? I had cramps at around 34 weeks and I had group B strep which I needed antibiotics for during labour and baby needed to stay in for 48 hours to check she was okay etc. Don’t just assume it’s pre labour if you’ve any other symptoms.

They kind of come and go yeah Smile

No discharge that I've noticed (out of the ordinary at least)

I did mention it to my midwife but they suggested it was just back pain.

Labour pains start off like period cramps - when you think about it, it's quite logical since in both cases it's your uterus clamping down to expel something. Good luck - it sounds like your baby is on the way !

29 weeks here and been getting them for about 2 weeks upto now usually normal towards the end of pregnancy everything is moveing, baby is bigger, your bigger, can also depend how baby is lay. Could be Braxton hicks or could be the start of something happening... i was like this for about 2 weeks before my 2nd was born 1 day after his DD. X
