Second baby/labour- earlier or later?

Just that really, im 37 weeks with dc2, was 9 days over with dc1.

Wondering what others experiences were the second time around with when baby arrived? And was your labour easier/faster (hoping for yes comments for this one 🙂)

My second labour was later (39 weeks as opposed to 38) and the labour was longer but it was still only two hours! The pain was much easier to manage though and I had a really positive experience with my second labour, I felt much more in control and confident.

1st 41 weeks. easy and fast.
2nd 41+1 harder as had medical issue and was on iV so midwife made to lye on back (don't recommend!) which hindered labour and made it an hour longer. If I had been left alone I feel it would have been around the same.

Dd came at 39 weeks. I'm due with DS tomorrow... nothing yet!

First was 40 plus 2 (had a sweep the day before!) long overnight early labour then another 10 hours of active labour.

Number 2 was born on his date, early labour overnight then 2 hours active labour and he was born in the pool. Was a lovely labour! Number 2 was smaller too.

First I was 10 days late

Second I was induced at 40+13!

DS1, waters went on due date and gave birth at 40+2.
DS2, waters went at 37+2, gave birth at 37+3.

Exactly the same labours for both - induction because of waters going and no labour starting but second was a lot calmer. I knew exactly what to expect so almost welcomed it.

That was 6 weeks ago and I'm still a bit bitter that I had no maternity leave. Went on leave on the Thursday, was in labour on the Saturday!

First was 40+5, second was 41, but induced due to waters breaking at 40+6.
Second labour was much quicker and more in control.
32 weeks now, and wondering when the 3rd one will decide to come.

1st was 9 days early
2nd was 1 day late

First i Pains mainly started around 7pm ish had him at 2:08am early hours
2nd pains started at 5:30pm had him at 10:30pm same night x

Second was earlier than first, third was earlier than second, fourth was later than second and third. I’ve never made it to my due date for any of them.

Unfortunately seems to be no overall pattern of going into labour any earlier second time but really good to know second labour seems to go easier and more in control. 🌸
