Where to put baby to sleep in the day if you have a bedside crib

Hi all,

I’m planning on buying a bedside crib or Moses basket this week.
For those of you who have already brought a bedside crib like the next2me or snuzpod where do you plan to put baby during the day.
I really want one of the above but keep thinking how much more practical a Moses basket will be as it’s easily transportable for upstairs and down.
I already have a bouncer and play mat. I’m thinking if I do buy a side crib and then a baby sleeping pod ( Big round pillow) for downstairs, will this be suitable?

What has everyone else brought?

Thanks xxxx

I just use one moses basket. And carry it up and down stairs on a night/morning.

But if you have a next to me crib then you can get moses baskets pretty cheap for downstairs if its easier or as others have said just use the carry cot bit of the pram x

You can't beat a sling for the early days.
And the nearly seven months days...

PeacefulInTheDeep · 14/11/2019 13:18

We used the pram carry cot for naps, and bedside crib overnight. DS outgrew it at 4 months but also wouldn't sleep around noise/light/movement/voices so we started using the cot in his room at that point.

Travel system carrycot or seat unit in the house, big old fashioned bouncy pram in the garden or if we went to the park, rocking chair that could be set in an electronic swing frame and then detached and tipped right back for short periods of supervised sleep if they nodded off, sling, husband, grandma.

My daughter hated the sling. I was so keen, went to my local library, got all clued up.. she screamed blue murder in it. She was a baby who disliked being held when asleep. She wanted a flat surface with no-one fussing her. She often fell asleep on her changing mat on the floor 😂 she’s 2.5 now & still needs her own space to sleep. Won’t be cuddled to sleep, won’t sleep in with us! When awake, she’s the cuddliest little girl bit for sleep, nope! To be honest, much like me. I hate being cuddled when trying to sleep. We have a super king so I can spread out Grin

We live on 3 levels, so had a snuzpod in the bedroom & a Moses basket in the living room. The basket was kindly donated by a friend & we bought a new mattress. Both got lots of use in this house Smile

I have a baby bjorn rocker/bouncer chair that is suitable for sleeping x

Greedytiger · 14/11/2019 20:27

We had a snuzpod upstairs and then downstairs baby either slept on me, in the pram carrycot or in a swing/bouncer chair.

We also had a second hand Tinlove baby napper which was good as somewhere to put baby down.

I had two Moses baskets first time round. Second time I had a crib upstairs and a Moses basket downstairs.

You can get really cheap Moses baskets now, I personally felt it was worth it for the convenience of not having to lug things up and downstairs.

Pinkblueberry · 14/11/2019 20:33

Can you not get both? I got a lovely Moses basket with stand for I think just under £30 from Aldi, so would just wait for the next baby event - having said that though, my DS really struggled sleeping on his back because he had reflux. I just had to make it happen at night to be safe, but in the day he mostly slept on me or his bouncy chair.

GlmPmum · 14/11/2019 20:33

I had next to me crib upstairs and Moses basket downstairs during the day. LO looked lost in the next to me crib to begin with so would place Moses basket in the crib at night. Worked well for us.

mrslimelite · 15/11/2019 05:54

I have a Moses basket but two stands, one for next to my bed and one in the lounge, found my babies settled faster having the same place to sleep/nap
It worked the last 3 times, I'm 31 weeks with number 4 and will hopefully do the same again this time x

We had a baby box- was a bit skeptical at first but he liked it. Last til he was around 6 months and is now in the loft filled with memory stuff.
We did get ours free as our health authority are trialling it- you can buy them though.

Ds1 slept on me. In the pushchair, car or sling. Ds2 had a sleepyhead that he used upstairs at night and downstairs in the day. I also took it with me if I went to visit anyone.

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/11/2019 06:14

I did have a Moses basket. Neither baby would entertain it.

Natsku · 15/11/2019 06:37

Baby box or pram carrycot

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 15/11/2019 06:56

We had both but my DS hated his moses basket. He also had reflux so laying him down was a nightmare. He slept on me until he was 5 months old for naps....this time baby will have to sleep in the moses basket as I have a crazy 2 year old!!
