8 weeks pregnant brown discharge and cramps

Not sure what to do, since last night I've been getting like a brown discharge (tmi but it's like when your period is ending and it goes a brown colour) and cramps, had cramps for weeks and don't seem to be much worse so that could just be normal. Do I contact my midwife or wait? I heard if it's bright red I should worry more than it being brown. I have my dating scan on Friday (I only know I'm 8 weeks because I went private) so don't know whether just to wait until then.

Contact your midwife. You need proper advice.

Hi Ally, I had the exact same thing last week but at 7 weeks. Was able to go into the EPU and have an early scan, everything was fine and really put my mind at ease - might be worth doing the same if you don’t think you can wait until Friday?

I have contacted my midwife but it's answerphone, waiting to hear back

Doctor thinks nothing to worry about but referred to epu to see if I can get a scan tomorrow.

I had brown spotting at 7 weeks which actually turned into a massive bleed at 8 weeks it actually went through my Jean's, I had an early scan and somehow everything was fine and they put it down to my period being due, just for your own sake get checked over the not knowing is the worst xx

Funnily enough looking at calendar it would be time I am due my period. EPU rang me they said they could scan tomorrow but would rather not with having other scan Friday, so unless it worsens just need to wait for that.

I had a bleed at 8 weeks on the exact day my period would have been due too! Everything turned out fine, there seemed to be no real explanation for it. Fingers crossed that everything works out well for you too.

Got another few hours to wait, will let you know. I'm not hopefully as gone from brown to red in last 8 hours or so.

@alicewithnohumps fingers crossed it's all fine for you, I know a lot of people get bleeding, doesn't necessarily mean a problem, for me it just wasn't meant to be unfortunately.

If I'm honest I am convinced it will be bad news I have a scan on Tuesday. Hope you are ok and have someone with you xx
