Groin pain

Hello everyone,

I am 34 weeks pregnant and am suffering from serious pain in the top of my groin that I'm struggling to walk. It feels like I've been riding a bike for weeks nonstop. It hurts more when walking, climbing stairs, turning in bed etc. What could it be and do I need to tell midwife?

Thanks everyone!

Sounds like pelvic girdle pain (SPD). There are lots of self-care strategies online. You can ask your midwife or GP for details of physio referral but in most areas your referral will take longer than the six-ish weeks remaining in your pregnancy. If you can see a physio or osteopath privately then this can bring relief.

I agree it sounds like PGP which I've had since about halfway through. A pregnancy support belt has helped me a bit for being at work/going for walks but mostly it's just one of those crappy things.

Thanks, I didn't know if it was because I wasn't getting pains in hips.

People can feel it in different places but for me it has felt like it's in the crotch and turning over in bed and going up stairs is definitely when it's at its worst!
