Hi everyone, having a bit of a panic, I have had pink brown discharge on and off for a few days when I wipe when going to the toilet. My boobs are not as sore as they were ambit I still have lower back pain (not painful just noticeable) I haven’t had morning sickness at all so far.

I am worried that this is all a sign of miscarriage. Has anyone had these symptoms?

Hi. I am just over 6 weeks and have the same. Boobs are still sore when I wake up and I feel sick but that's it. I have an early scan booked for Sunday so I guess I'll find out then what's going on.

This is my first pregnancy so I'm abit nervous.

Fingers 🤞🏼

People I've asked have always said everyone's body and pregnancy is different one of their pregnancies would have symptoms and the other wouldnt so I'm sure all is okay and we're just lucky not to have many symptoms

gemf87 · 12/11/2019 10:55

And to add.... Yesterday I was on food then off it the next 🙄 maybe its the body just being all over the place 🤷🏽‍♀️

Stay positive

I had brown and the nurse at EPAU said not to be too concerned as brown is old blood. Fresh blood and cramps is more concerning.

benandhollyagaaain · 12/11/2019 10:56

I had this with DD1. All was fine, I assume implantation bleeding. But if you are concerned phone the midwife and ask her advice. They may scan you to check x

gemf87 · 12/11/2019 11:06

Ive had a few cramps but again have been told it's normal. Friday night I woke up with a bad cramp but it didn't last that long.

Brown spotting/discharge has stopped now. I'm sure it's all normal and maybe panicking over nothing. My midwife hasn't even called me to book an appointment yet!!

Rosabuddy · 12/11/2019 12:48

Thanks everyone, it’s my first pregnancy and I’m worrying. Is it a bad sign my boobs are not sore anymore??

OP posts:
gemf87 · 12/11/2019 13:56

@Rosabuddy mine are sore first thing in the morning and only when I press them. Everyone's different so I'm sure all is okay.

I definitely don't feel pregnant though or have half the symptoms everyone else does x

Boymummy3 · 12/11/2019 13:58

@Rosabuddy symptoms come and go... i never had sore boobs at all with 1st and 2nd but it was my first symptom of this pregnancy... it soon eased off then came back again dont worry about symptoms changing x

I had this last week (7 weeks), with one time it being more red than brown or pink. I then had a scan at EPAU and saw a little heartbeat flickering away. They said not to worry unless it was proper red. It's still happening but only slightly pink or brown now and of course I worry that there's still a problem, but I don't feel like I can keep going back to EPAU.

Thinking of going for a private scan next week, but I'm seeing my midwife tomorrow so I'll see what she says.

So it's not necessarily a bad thing. I was sure it was game over when I went for my scan, bawled my eyes out when I saw the heartbeat.

Rosabuddy · 12/11/2019 19:24

How do you get an appointment at a EPU? I’m in Northern Ireland d and I’d never heard of them, just private clinics. I saw my go when I found out I was pregnant and she referred me to maternity hospital for booking in appointment which isn’t until December. I won’t have a community midwife until 16weeks

The NHS website said to phone your GP or midwife if any bleeding. I didn't have my midwife then so I phoned my GP and she swabbed me, and referred me to the EPAU. I got a scan the next day. My GP is lovely though, she's very thorough and takes any concerns seriously.

I don't know what you have in NI but I'm guessing there must be some early pregnancy unit type thing? The scan department must be able to take people who are at risk. Maybe ask your GP tomorrow? Is your NHS website the same as England's? Have a look and see what it advises for early pregnancy bleeding. Or 111 or your equivalent non emergency number.

Hopefully it's nothing but it would be nice to have your mind put at rest a little.

@PurplePuffinPicker

I’m having something similar! I started spotting brown last Wednesday. I had a scan this Monday and they located a gestational sac measuring less than 5 weeks but couldn’t find any reason for the spotting so told me not to worry.

A few hours after the internal scan I bled red for a few hours but it was only when I wiped, not enough to wear a pad. I then woke up yesterday with the worst cramps and pains ever. I coped with paracetamol and a hot water bottle. I phoned EPAU and they said they won’t scan me any earlier than my appointment on 28th November however it bleeding continued to go in and I can be examined.

The bleeding quickly turned back to brown spotting and I am continuing to spot brown now.

I’m prettified I’ve had a miscarriage. Just seems coincidental that I bled red and had bad pain after the internal. I’ve spotted for a total of a week now! :( by my dates From LMP I should be 7 weeks but sac was measuring less than 5.

PurplePuffinPicker · 13/11/2019 13:20

Maybe whatever was causing brown blood was just aggravated by the internal? I know some spotting can be caused by an irritated cervix so maybe that caused the red blood? It's agonising waiting for scans though. I guess they're not scanning you earlier because there won't be enough to see, it's best to give the sac a chance to grow. If your dates are based upon LMP, maybe you ovulate later than you think?

I hope the next couple of weeks pass over fairly quickly for you.

gemf87 · 16/11/2019 06:39

@rosabuddy how are things now?

thirteen92 · 16/11/2019 21:07

@PurplePuffinPicker I’m still here and still bleeding! It’s been 10 days now of bleeding and 5 days of red/brown since the scan. EPAU aren’t concerned and won’t see me any earlier than 28/11 because I’m not filling pads, in pain or passing clots! I don’t see how I can consistently bleed and still have a viable pregnancy.

PurplePuffinPicker · 16/11/2019 21:45

Some people do, I don't understand why but I have read of people bleeding loads and having a healthy baby.

But it's shit that epu won't see you yet. Can you afford a private scan? They're around £50-70 here. My midwife had the same logic - I saw her an mentioned the intermittent bleeding and she said to go to A&E if I go through two pads in 30 mins. That's a ridiculous amount to bleed before they'll look at me. I'm just so glad the GP referred me first.

I know it's worrying but try to keep positive.

@gemf87 how are you going now?

My bleeding seems to have stopped for now, it had been pink/brown again this week. My NHS scan isn't until December, half tempted to get a private one, but money is tight.

thirteen92 · 16/11/2019 21:49

@PurplePuffinPicker

So glad to hear your bleeding has stopped! How long did you bleed for in total? EPAU want to give my sac time to develop so they left 2 weeks between my scans to give it chance. They’re not concerned about the bleeding so are still sticking to my scan on 28th in the hope there’s development in the sac!

Rosabuddy · 16/11/2019 22:05

@gemf87 spotting has eased thank god. How are you?

OP posts:
gemf87 · 17/11/2019 07:04

@PurplePuffinPicker I have my private scan today. My NHS one is also december after my holiday. I haven't had any spotting since the other week.

@Rosabuddy my spotting lasted a few days so hopefully all is well.

@thirteen92 I'll have everything crossed for you. It's worrying though as I'd love to know what's going on inside.. Keep positive

PurplePuffinPicker · 18/11/2019 09:25

@gemf87 however did your scan go yesterday?

@Rosabuddy glad to hear your spotting has eased now.

@thirteen92 I hope the next week passes over for you quickly. It feels so long between scans, I remember from a previous pregnancy.

My bleeding was quite off and on, I would say there were 3 separate weeks I had bleeding in, but not constant and mostly pink/brown. It's currently stopped so I'm hoping it won't come back.

gemf87 · 18/11/2019 11:32

@PurplePuffinPicker scan went well thank you. Heart was beating well and I measured at 6 weeks and 5 days. They also found a fibroid so will have to keep an eye on that and will let my midwife know on Sunday when I see her for my first appointment
