DD (born 09/07/07) is Isla. Middle name is getting v. tricky. We like:

Isla Muriel
Isla Fern
Isla Felicity
Isla Dorothy
Isla Dylis

Which do you reckon, or has anyone any other suggestions?

Surname is one syllable and starts with a "W"

Thanks!

Ok, but if your surname is White, please don't name your child Isla

Isla White
(isle of wight!)

Clary · 19/08/2007 11:39

Bodkin I personally like Muriel (know a Muriel Isla actually!) andFelicity and Dorothy but it's your choice.

Will just say tho that middle names ime are not that important and not used that much so just go with your fave from that list!

MyTwopenceworth · 19/08/2007 11:41

Isla Simone?

Bodkin · 19/08/2007 11:43

No, don't worry, it's not White

In England and Wales, I think you have to register your baby by 6w, Scotland 4w (but I may be mistaken - dh registered all of ours). I don't think there's any law about it, but if you delay further then you lose out on Child Benefit and can't claim it retrospectively.

I like Isla Felicity - the long middle name contrasts pleasantly with the short first name.

'All births, by law, must be registered within 42 days with a Registrar of Births and Deaths'

copied from wiltshire council website

I like Isla Felicity out of the choices.

MrsJohnCusack · 19/08/2007 11:49

oh I love Muriel. I think that works best with the surname

LaDiDaDi · 19/08/2007 11:52

I like Felicity best, I liked it for a first name. I like Dylis as a name but don't think it goes with Isla somehow.

You have 42 days to register in England and Wales, 21 days in Scotland. If married either of you can register, if not married both partners need to attend.

I like Dorothy or Muriel from your list.

grouchyoscar · 19/08/2007 11:52

So long as you don't plump for St Clair you'll be fine

You've got 6 weeks from the birth and pop to your local Registry office. Then you can start getting your family allowance etc sorted

aloha · 19/08/2007 12:02

Are any of them family names? If so, go with teh family name.

Bodkin · 19/08/2007 12:55

Cor, that's lucky - I think she;s 6 weeks tomorrow - so better hotfoot it then! None of them are family names, but just writing them down has helped. My fave is Muriel too, but DP not very keen on that. I agree that Isla Dylis looks a bit odd written.

I Prefer Felicity hun

Bodkin · 19/08/2007 13:18

Oh, I forgot to say, my absolute favourite one is:

Isla Delilah Wade

But is that a bit cruel, or rather sweet? It's what I've been calling her as a pet name!
