Sciatic pain first trimester

Hi everyone! I am 11+5. I have been having back pain sporadically for a week. It's a sharp tugging/twinging sensation that's sometimes stops me in my tracks. Mainly on the left side but sometimes right. My lower back, hip, front of my leg and bum are effected. My midwife has referred me to physio today as she thinks I could possibly have sciatica. I'm worried as I am very early on in my pregnancy. One thing to add is that although this is my first pregnancy I begun to show very early. I have quite a bump already. No trousers fit me. There is a lot of muscle stretching going on already. Has anyone else had similar issues. Do they get worse the further on it gets?

Hi I had exactly the same and after week 16 or so the sciatica seemed to clear up by itself! Strange I know but im now 37 weeks exactly and haven't had any problems since. Probably not helpful just my experience. Flowers

This was me from week 5. I had to stop working at week 7 and never went back. It got a little better at week 20 until the end of the pregnancy.
I had physiotherapy which helped to make me more comfortable at home but didn’t make it possible for me to leave the house more than once or twice a week.
I have mild scoliosis and I think this is what was behind it.

@firsttimemum30 @DameSylvieKrin well those are two very different stories! Mine is very sporadic at the moment. I'm hoping physio will help. Fingers crossed it will magically disappear or I'm in trouble because I'm a teacher!

You can google some stretches, I suffered and still do suffer, best thing is to find the stretches that help you the most and do what you can to get by.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best! Physio gave me so much pain relief and I hope it does the same for you.
I was ill with other things from 20 w so maybe if it had just been the sciatica in isolation I would have been fine.
Good luck from another IVF mum!
