Pain at night in early pregnancy

I'm 5 weeks and have had little bits of pain most days, slight cramping and shooting vag pain mainly. I think, from what I have read that it's normal.
What I am worried about is that if I lie on my right side moderate pain starts immediately. I can't sleep on that side and if I inadvertently role onto my right in the night it wakes me up.
It's been going on a week and it only just clicked that maybe it's not normal, doctor said phone midwife, midwife said phone doctor. Do you think I need to see my GP?

What I mean is, do I really need to see the GP. It's a pain to get an appointment (they said so today hence the phone the midwife service advice) neither call handler seemed at all concerned. And other pains seem normal, it's just this one has a specific cause.
